Has Honda been slow in adapting to changes in the market ?

Honda has been slow in adapting to changes required in the Indian market.

The Indians still prefer petrol run cars over diesel cars. This is the reason the sale of 'Honda cars" has dipped drastically and also its shares.

The ban passed by the supreme court of India on the movement of diesel cars on the roads of Delhi has affected the sale of Honda cars. The company has, however, been adverse to changes and preferred to rely on its expansive dealers throughout the country to increase its sale.

It was only in 2016 the company rolled out the new 'Accord hybrid' model which runs on a combined hybrid system that runs on the combined output of a petrol engine and two electric motors with a mileage of 23.1km/litre.

You can own this car with good features only if you can shell out Rs.37 lakhs which will not be possible for many Indians. Cars which are within the purchase range of Indians still run on diesel.

Apart from these technical issues the company has decided to increase the price of cars by 3 percent in 2016 which is added disadvantage and an adverse change to capture the Indian market.

No doubt Maruti Suzuki's 'Ciaz' have gripped the Indian roads. The company is making slow changes but at a higher price which cannot rule the Indian market. Therefore the company has to make changes in those models that are within the economic capability of people of India.
