How to be Content with your Life?

Satisfaction is not always the fulfillment of what you want; it is the realization of how blessed you are for what you have. We are usually happy when we get something we want, but that is a short-lived moment. So what can we do to be content with what we have? Life satisfaction means being happy when you look at your overall life and are happy about how you are doing.

We all have gone through the phase where we achieve almost everything that we ever dreamt of, but we still feel incomplete. You have a great job, but you cannot be content with whatever pay you get. You keep the feeling that you deserve more. The annoying feeling of not having enough stays in your mind. It will ruin even the happiest moments of your life. So what can you do to alter your life for the better? You can get that high paying job but can you be sure of contentment there. You know the answer. So, the best way to deal with this is changing your perspective on life and daily actions. This will make you appreciate the little things you cherish in life. #1. Do Not Compare With Others

The mantra of contentment in life is that you should stop looking how good is the life of others. There will always be someone who is better at things than you. But that should not mean that you start feeling envy towards them. You will not be able to change what others have, what you can change is the way you look at their success. Stop worrying about your co-worker's big house or your friend's beautiful girlfriends. These things will only make you feel jealous. So, stop comparing your life to them. Look at your life in individual terms and see what all you have achieved so far and feel good about it.

#2. Love Yourself

Before being content with your life, try to be content with who you are. Before you love anything else, love yourself. The first step to doing that is knowing who you really are. Judge what makes you feel happy in life. Once you are able to figure this out, you will be able to have a satisfactory life for a long time. You can accept that you have some flaws and that is part of being a human. If you feel like, you can work on them to improve yourself. This might make you feel good about yourself too. You are not some entity that needs to be a certain way. So be who you are, and you will start loving life even more.

#3. Forget The Past And The Future

The happiest people are always the ones who live in the moment and enjoy everything that they come across. So stop peeping into your past and do not overburden your mind with the pressure of the future. Only once you think about the present moment alone, you can be happy with your life. Enjoy what you are doing right now and do not think about anything else at this time. Although past can make you learn from your mistakes but overthinking will only lead to misery. Plan your future too but when working on it, be absorbed in the action plan alone.

#4. Help The Needy

By helping people who require your assistance, you will be able to improve their life along with yours. You do not have to start working in a mason's shop to help people. Instead, think about doing the little deeds for somebody every day. You can help an old person cross the road or help your mother in cooking. This will bring a smile on the face of the person you help. Seeing that you will automatically have a positive energy inside you. You will realize how even the little things matter in life. You will start feeling content with your own life that ways by appreciating the small things.

#5. Appreciate What You Have

If you want to be happy with your life, you have to learn to appreciate the things that you already have in your life. You should not always run after the best things in life, be thankful for what you get. Always striving to gain perfection will make you feel sad when you do not get it. You cannot always get what you want. So try to ask yourself if you really need it. Do not look out for the best or the most amazing things that are present out there. Try putting a smile on your face by remembering what all you have with you.

#6. Be Thankful For The Little Things

Whenever you are feeling low, try to appreciate every little thing around you. You should thank god that you are healthy and alive. Enjoy the chirping of the birds on your porch and the beautiful hue of colour palette that the sunset brings along with it. All these amazing things around you are all very underrated while you are busy running around chasing temporary things. Take a pause and see what all you are missing. Notice the little things in your life, and they will be enough to make your day joyful. Expressing gratitude with little things is perhaps the most beautiful feeling ever.

#7. Accept Failure With Grace

If you are trying to reach something bigger in your life, there is a very less chance that you get to it on the very first try. So do not feel demotivated if you fail in the first few attempts. Failure is also a part of the ladder to success. At least it is better than not trying at all. So tell yourself that it is okay even if you are failing at something. Once you are okay with that, you will feel more content.

#8. Introspect And Hear Your Inner Voice

Most of the people are not happy with their life because they do not stop and see what is going on around them. You should sit back and assess the things around you to get a better understanding of the position you are in. You can do this by penning down your thoughts in a journal, walking in a park or just by meditating. You do not have to overthink about the negative things that have happened but judge the overall outcome of the day. This will help you become prepared for the future in a better manner. Make it a habit to do so, and you will be more content knowing where you stand. Let your inner voice guide your way and make informed decisions for yourself. 

#9. Share Your Sadness

Happiness does not mean that you have to ignore the sad days. You can acknowledge when you are sad as well. That will also make you a content person when done in the right way. Confront your sad feelings and cry for some time while still being a happy person. Faking happiness when you are actually sad will only make you feel miserable. So let the tears come when you are sad and get back on track after you are done with them. Talk to a friend about your feelings and let them know why you feel that way. They might be able to console you and show you the brighter side of the situation.

#10. Don't Make Money Equivalent To Happiness

People these days often associate money with happiness. But the material things you buy with it can never make you content in your life. You can buy the big bungalow and cars you admire on the glossy pages or while surfing, but in the long run, you will eventually get bored with it. That will make you feel discontent with your life status as well. Some new branded clothes will definitely make you feel happy in the short run but cannot make you feel happy and satisfied for long.

#11. Follow Your Passions

If you really want to feel content in your life, then you should follow your dreams. Stop going to the job that you hate because it gives you some money. Instead, realize what you really want to do with your life and pursue it. If you are not doing what you love, you are simply wasting away the days of your life. If you still do not know what your passion is, it is never too late to find out. Searching your passion can also bring contentment in your life. Do not listen to others who do not support you or your dream. If you believe in your passion, you do not need the approval of others. 

#12. Replenish Your Soul

This is a very important part of your life in order to live a healthy and peaceful life. If you want to bring content to your life, you should begin taking care of yourself from both inside and out. There are plenty of ways in which we can devote time to ourselves and feel better. You should try taking a vacation from your hectic schedule when you are unable to cope with the pressure. Go to a peaceful place where you can connect with nature again. You will gain you inner conscious and will be able to perform in a better manner. Sit out in the open and close your eyes. Let the silence cover you so that you feel like your soul is cleansed. This inner peace will give you content better than any other thing.
