#1. An essential thing that can help you to cultivate discipline in life is the power of setting intentions. This is something that completely guides all the things that we choose to do in life and yet is one of the least considered things when it comes to the development of self-discipline in life. What you need to understand is the fact that we all tend to give up soon and deviate from our path, because we are not able to keep our focus right. This is where intention becomes powerful. When we take out the time to set intentions, we give attention to why we are working towards a goal; we focus on the importance of our goal. We get to emphasize to our self and remind our self why we wish to go through the challenges and how much the result is going to satisfy and benefit us.

When we set a clear intention, we have something to get us back on track each time we wish to give up. Each time we talk our self out of it, the powerful intention is going to remind us why we set out on the journey. Setting intentions is one of how you can increase the amount of self-discipline in your life.

#2. Make sure you do not let your emotions take the driving seat. What this means is, you will have to keep a check on yourself each time you feel like giving up because the emotional pressure is huge. The moment we let our self-get emotionally weak, we tend to give up. The best possible reason anyone will ever give up is that their emotions have taken over and they are not able to let the self-discipline take the driving seat. Facing any challenge can cause emotional pain, and there are times when we can reach a saturation point where we feel the need to give up.

This is where people who practice self-discipline are able to make things work out for them. They will not give up; they are well aware of the kind of challenges they are facing, at that same time they can keep their motivation high. They may choose to let go of the challenging situation for the time being, take time out, but they will never give up due to fear and negative emotions.

#3. One of the things that people can do to have a better amount of discipline in life is setting goals that are non-negotiable. When we set a goal that is not negotiable, it is as good as done. Because there is no doing it tomorrow or some other time, such a goal is something that is on the list and hence has to be done. Each time we set such goals, we are compelling our self to make the extra effort and run that extra mile that no one else will.

This will need a tremendous amount of commitment and dedication. This is the reason why developing goals that you are committed to doing can be a huge stimulating factor in your journey of developing better discipline in life. You will have to use up all the power of motivation to make sure you accomplish these goals. This is discipline at its best.
