And in circumstances like such, it's not very rare to feel extreme levels of anxiety, isolation, and falling into deadly trap of depression. If you find yourself sad, lonely or hollow from within, don't worry you're not sick. It happens to everyone, even with the most cheerful person you know!

Loneliness is not an issue as we ourselves have created it, by compromising on things we loved, to achieve things that we feel we need. And, as an adult, chances are that you will often feel lonely. But, don't let loneliness get over your mind, find a solution to overcome loneliness whenever it prevails before it becomes an anguish for you, and starts messing with your mind, getting beyond your control.

Try to be happy and keep a company of good people around you, who you can reach whenever you need them, people who you can trust to be with you in times of happiness and miseries.

Yet, if you feel sad, please don’t give up and follow the steps to conquer your fear of living alone.

6 Steps On How To Overcome Fear Of Living Alone

#1. Take It As A Good News

Loneliness is a blessing for some, but for others, it is a catastrophe. So, the fear is nothing when you take it as a good thing, and eventually, as you grow old you'll be demanding alone time for yourself. Loneliness is an opportunity to be yourself, do things you enjoy doing, sleep for an extra hour, watch some good movies; bring out the old sketchbook and draw something, go out shopping, explore your surroundings. Enjoy yourself, don't let your mind bother you with meaningless thoughts.

When you get into the real world, working 24X7 in a bid and quest to survive, you will miss this time. Staying alone gives you the peace of mind that you require to achieve mental refreshment. Learn the art of exploiting being alone to your own advantage and you'll never need anything else.

#2. Take It As The Doom's Day

What would you do when you suddenly find out it's the last day of your life? No, it’s not the last day, we are just asking you to believe it whenever you’re alone. Some would have very impractical expectations like traveling the whole world, which is seriously not possible in one day. While some have very weird or adorable wishes like reliving the memories or go for one thing that sets you high. Whatever is your wish, just don't think of the consequences and do it.

#3. Don’t Find Solace In Social Media

Mostly people love to indulge in social media as the perfect resort to ditch the reality and bask in the obsession of virtual reality where ostentatious friends and folks keep updating on "how happy they're" or "how fulfilled their lives are". This will not only lead to stressful or anguish feelings but also make you feel terrible and lonely. So, let the social media fever rest at bay, focus on positivism and spread light and cheer in your own company.

#4. Don't Let Loneliness Lead You To Toxic Relationships

Deny it or accept it, the fact will remain the truth, we all desperately seek relationships to get rid of loneliness. This desperation often leads people into relationship with the wrong person. So, don't let loneliness get over you and lead you to opt for a wrong relationship, the consequences of which will be more intoxicating than loneliness. You will not only suffer but also be left shattered in a hope of despair.

'Patience is the key to success' and this theory applies even when you're finding a good companion for a healthy relationship. There would be a lot of pressure from your family to get married, but don't end up making the wrong decision because of the pressure and take your own sweet time to decide and fall in love with the person who will treat you well.

#5. Stay In Touch With People

Just like food, air, and money is essential for survival, there's one more thing which is as vital as the other three and that is 'communication'. No one in this world can survive for long time without communicating with others. As humans, we need to talk in order to stay happy, and if we don't do so, we'll break into bits and pieces.

Not very sure if everyone knows about it or not, but in ancient times, solitary confinement was the deadliest punishment anyone could be sentenced to. Instead of directly hanging you to death, people were put into confined prisons, denying any sort of communication. As a result, the prisoner would break and die of depression. So, don't confine yourself, get out and socialize.

#6. Sharing Is A Way Out

'Two people together can defeat loneliness.' The world is huge and there are more people like you who suffer from the whims of loneliness. So, find strength in unity and get along with friends who suffer the same problem and you'll never be lonely again. Also, sharing is considered as a solution to problems of every kind, even loneliness. Dag Hammarskjold, a Swedish author said, "what makes loneliness an anguish is not that I have no one to share my burden but this: I have only my own burden to bear’. Sharing your own feelings with others and persuading others to do so relieves you of the burden. Don't let loneliness turn into antagonism, find someone worth to share your burden with.

Yes, sometimes I don't know what to do

Loneliness was not a problem earlier, do you know why? There was no Facebook, no Instagram, and no Snapchat back then. People used to talk for long hours with friends, but that was not on phone, it was with a cup of coffee on the dining table, or in a bar with a glass of beer. People, before Facebook and Snapchat, knew the importance to socialize with their real-time friends and believed in living the moment rather than capturing it in their pictures and floating them everywhere on the web.

Most of us are unhappy because we are not able to manage our time and do things what made us smile, feel happy, and set us on a high. We are too busy earning for the luxuries in the life that we have forgotten the essence to enjoy in the real way.

How much efforts does it take to pick your phone and dial your friend, it doesn’t matter if there’s nothing to talk- it’s good to be fools sometimes and talk about random shit. How does it matter, no one’s going to judge you, they are your friends. Even planning your days and making plans to do something exciting with your friends like going out fishing, play basketball, even going for a drink is better than sleeping the whole day. Give up on your laziness and do something that makes you sweat and laugh at the same time.

Find reasons to laugh and work hard to earn these moments. Somebody once said that “Don’t take things too seriously in life, you won’t ever get out of it alive”. Give up on materialistic things, the happiness won’t last for long. Crave for things that really make you feel happy, but before you do that, take out time to identify them and you won’t ever feel alone.

It’s better to avoid loneliness from ever getting in your life than searching for ways to overcome the fear of being alone.

No, not anymore

I am not afraid of being alone. In fact, I love to spend time with myself and explore my inner-self. It is also important to be alone sometimes because it helps you to stay calm and enjoy the beauty of silence. Life has got a lot of problems and responsibilities which we cannot ignore. These things are like a magnet that will follow you throughout your life, but sometimes it is better to get out and go for a walk just with yourself and enjoy being alone.
