How to Deal with a Bad Day at Work?

Bad days are like the longest days most felt when you're at work. Heard of Monday Blues, they're called so for a reason and are no mystery, and almost everyone who has worked at an office has gone through a bad day at work at least once, the worst part being that they are inevitable and not to mention, unavoidable. Be it because of the burden of work, the bad mood of your boss or due to a colleague, we’ve all been through it. There are all kinds of people in a workspace and you can do little about avoiding specific people you don’t like. Plus, when your boss never appreciates you for your good work but keeps on nagging when you make the slightest mistake, a bad day can turn to worse. If you had a fight with a family member or your spouse, the after-effect is bound to follow you in your cubicle and affect your productivity.

Dealing with a bad day at work may sound somehow impossible to achieve as after office you are seldom left with hours to spend on yourself. After a long day, your body has already given up, and your mind has shut its doors to everyone else around. This stress is not just going to cause an unhealthy effect on your mind and body but also becomes a cause of a drastic change in your mood. You are bound to carry the burden after and before you even realize, you start to empty yourself of all the anger and stress on the people around you. Besides, no matter how rough your day might be going or how shitty it promises to be, coffee is always there to the rescue! This strong cup of stimulating caffeine never fails to disappoint. If you are stressed about a long day ahead, grab a cup of coffee and take some time off before starting your day to figure out your plans and work schedule. Coffee can be a great stress buster to indulge in no matter how amazing or an annoying day at the office you must be having!

#2. Leave Your Worries At The Doorstep

Try to avoid taking your work home or postponing your deadlines. By bringing your work home, you will only hamper your peace and interrupt the little time that you are left with to spend on yourself during the weeknights. Try to separate your office and personal life, not just workwise but also mentally. Avoid thinking about your work for the next day or how your boss is going to treat you tomorrow. Leave all the workplace worries at the threshold of your office and let the positive energies surround you as and when you get back home. Spend quality time with your family or play with your dog that has missed you all day while you were away! Shift your negative thoughts and focus on the people that care for you and will always be there for you, be it your friends, family lover or your pet!

#3. Block Distractions At Work

Blocking outside distractions at work is as important as blocking out the office stress before entering your home sweet home. Don’t let a fight with your lover, a family feud or a brawl with your friend affect your mood. In order to efficiently work in an office and achieve your targets on time, it is important that your projects get your undivided attention. A bad mood before heading to work will only hamper your productivity if you carry even the minutest negativity alongwith you inside your cubicle!

#4. Do Something That You Love

No matter how bad your day at the office must be going, remember that it is going to end and after office hours, you are free to fly like a bird. You can do the things that you enjoy sans the constant nagging. You can go out with your friends and engage in a chill time or watch your favorite series and rejuvenate.

It will also make you focus more on your work and enhance your productivity, as per studies. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind. Try to gulp healthy and fresh foods which will not make you feel drowsy all day long at work. A healthy lifestyle will automatically affect your mood and make you more positive!

#6. Share Your Bad Day

Share the moments of your bad day with your friends, family or a loved one. They are always there to listen to your troubles and non-complacent feelings about your boss with you! By sharing about your day, you will be able to clear your head and not take the previous day’s disappointments along with you the next day. If it’s about you not being able to complete your targets on time or an underpayment issue, your loved ones are always there to advise you on the matter and give you an insight into the situation from a completely different perspective that you might have been missing out on all this time! Sharing your bad day with a friend will make you feel lighter in the head plus there is also the advantage that they will pour their deep-down feelings with you too.

Most people vent out their thoughts and feelings for the day in a journal at the end of the day, which helps them share their thoughts out in the universe without having to share it with anyone else. If you are one of those who prefers to keep low-key and is not much of a sharer, try to maintain a journal and jot down your feelings for the day into it. It can be an exciting way to vent it out all out which will also clear your head of all the troubles you have to go through by yourself every day! It is said that keeping a journal is the best way to express your angst and get rid of your suppressed emotions in the most explicit way. Write your feelings down and see how you feel lighter and better instantly!
