How To Find Percentage Of A Number

In case you are looking to find the percentage of a number, for instance, what is 20% of 200, there is a simple formula you can use for that. You can calculate it using P % * X = Y, where P is the percentage, X is the number that you are given, and Y is the number that you have to find. So, for example, P is 20, X is 200 and Y is what we need to find. Therefore, Y comes out to be 20 % * 200, and by replacing the “%” by “/100”, we get 20 / 100 * 200. In this case, the answer we get is 40. Hence, Y = 40.

How To Find Percentage Composition

There could be times when all you have are two numbers, and you are needed to find the percentage of the two. For instance, a jar has 450 blue and 550 red marbles, and you have to ascertain the percentage of two in the jar. In such cases, what you need to find first is the total number of marbles in the jar, which you will get by adding the number of red and blue marbles and finding the percentage of each color marble individually.

So, in the case presented here, the total number of marbles comes out to be 450 + 550 = 1000, and now you can simply find the percentage using the formula given above as 450 / 1000 * 100. So, the percentage of blued marbles is 45.

How To Find One Number With Percentage And Another Number

Now, another scenario could be how to calculate X, when you are given P and Y. Such questions appear as Y is P % of what? Since you know that percentage is calculated as P = Y / X * 100, then by further analyzing the equation you get, X = Y / P * 100. So, if you are calculating 25 is 20 % of what number, which is X, you get, X = 25 / 20 * 100. In this case, X comes out to be 125; meaning 25 is 25 % of 125.
