Everybody at some point in their lives wished upon acquiring the superpower of reading other people’s minds. But we certainly cannot be granted this wish since we do not live in a mythological or a supernatural world. But there is a solution to every problem in the world. Is there any other way that you can get a hint of what is going on into the mind of the person in front of you? If only there was a way to examine people’s thoughts and feelings by merely looking at them.
A person’s body language tells a lot about what might be going inside the person’s mind, interpreting which can be an observing task. If you are on a date, at a family function or in a meeting, you somehow predict what the person might be thinking about you or thinking in general just by having a look at the position of their hands, leg shaking habit and not to mention, facial expressions. Especially on a blind date, you can easily predict what the person might be thinking of you! Have a look at these signs to interpret body language clearly and have a view into how body language works!
#1. Classic Hand Cross Posture
The common hands crossed- without much eye contact tells that the person is not much interested in what you have to say or doesn’t really agree with your point of view. In a fight with your friend or spouse, this gesture depicts that they disagree with your point and have most probably lost attention to your words.

#2. Legs Crossed Or Not!
Even though the position and posture of the arms or hands and facial expressions win the game of detecting thoughts on the basis of body language, do have a close look at the movement of the legs as well! Fidgeting or leg shaking habit, cross-legged or legs wide open, all depict different moods and thoughts of a person. The shaking of a leg or legs portrays that the person is feeling anxious about something, is stressed over an issue, nervous or lost in his own thoughts. Leg shaking habit is pretty common and can be very annoying for some people. Leg shaking habit qualifies for being a potential turn off as well. If a person sits cross-legged across you, it symbolizes that he is not very interested in the offer and does not approve of the idea or wish to invite you to go ahead with it. Sitting with legs wide open symbolizes that the person is relaxed, and is impressed by what you are saying. It also signals that they approve your presence.
#3. Detect The Fake Smile
At the office or family gatherings, you might see a lot of people, smiling a lot. But does this smile signify that they appreciate your presence genuinely or are just being nice and friendly? A smile can be deceiving as well. If you want to know that a person is genuinely smiling back or laughing at your jokes because they really think they are funny, look at their eyes. If their eyes crinkle with sparkle, they might actually like you!

#4. Overall Posture Defines Personality
This advice is not something that you’ll be hearing for the first time from our side. This is something that your parents might have already pinpointed out to you. But have you ever wondered about the psychology behind it? A person who walks or sits with a stout/ weak posture signifies low confidence and lack of self- esteem. A person opposite of that, who walks tall with straight shoulders and a perfect posture signifies power, authority, and confidence.

#5. The Eyes Say It All
The eyes are the window of the soul, indeed. You can detect a person’s personality or mood via having just a glimpse of the eyes. Some of the obvious observations include eye rolling, no eye contact whilst you speak and too much eye contact. When a person rolls his eyes at something that you might have said, it means that they disagree with your viewpoint and also think that you are somehow a little foolish. People who roll their eyes often have been found to have very low tolerance for trash talkers as well. No eye contact signifies that a person might not be very interested in you or what you are talking to them about. It is usually a sign that signifies lack of interest. When a person tends to make too much eye contact, up to an abnormal amount or in other words, for too long, it signifies that the person may be lying about something to you or already know the truth about some matter that you might be lying to them about. If a person from the opposite gender stares at you for a bit too long (about 5 seconds or more), it might suggest that he is interested in you and checking you out. Staring is also considered rude and an act of malbehavior, depending on the situation.
#6. Excessive Nodding
Excessive nodding may represent that a person is too nervous or anxious. If you see a person nodding way too much on something that you are saying, it may mean that they are anxious about their approval from you. It means that they now have your undivided attention and that they are not interested in what you have to say.
#7. Clenching Of Jaws
Clenching of jaws can either signify anger or anxiousness, depending upon the situation. If a person clenches his jaw while in an argument, it means that he is either about to lose it and highly disagree with your points in the argument. Normally in a situation, if you see someone clenching his jaw, especially without making eye contact, it signifies that they might be anxious about something.
#8. Mirroring
If a person mirrors your body movements or copies your actions, it means that they approve of your opinion and are interested in what you have to say. At a date, if you find your partner copying your hand gestures or other body movements such as sitting cross-legged like you, take it as a sign of approval from their side! Psychology says that people tend to subconsciously mirror the actions of people that they like.

#9. Leg Shaking Habit
Leg shaking can either be due to nervousness or pertaining to a syndrome known as Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS), both signifying anxiety, nervousness and built up stress. When leg shaking starts as a way simply by expressing a person’s anxiety, it goes on to become something serious if not paid heed to. Restless Leg Syndrome does not develop in a single day and neither can be treated overnight. If a person’s leg shaking habit is not stopped at the earliest, it can become difficult or almost impossible to treat. If a person develops a leg shaking habit, getting rid of it or attempting to sit still even for a minute can cause discomfort and cause changes in his mood, leading him to act pretty aggressively.
Interpreting body language is not easy but certainly not an impossible task as well.
