“The ones who think they are crazy enough to change the world, are the ones who do”
The legendary Steve Jobs knew exactly what he was talking about. Just like many before him, and many after him will tell you; passion is a very funny thing. If you’re passionate about something, then it most likely keeps you up in the nights and leaves a sparkling effect inside you. You feel inspired and powerful; you feel you can change the world.
However, how many of us really do what we always wanted to? Caught up in the rat race of the world, we all sit idly in our cubicles typing codes or doing something which never inspired us from within. But, often times, our frustration reveals our passion. It is a divine moment indeed. After all, far and away the best prize that life offers to man is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.
Many people feel that it is a wonderful idea to just quit their jobs and start working towards their personal goals, however, there is much more to it than actually meets the eye. For everyone who is thinking of following their passion and quitting their jobs, the right thing would be to stop talking about it and start doing something. Turn your passion into your profession, here’s how:
Start
“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
To begin with, the first and perhaps the foremost thing that you should do is to get up and act. You have to start somewhere and only blabbering about your passions is not the right way to approach. Do something, read the top books on successful entrepreneurs, talk to people who belong to your industry, if your passion lies on the internet, then write a blog, buy the right domain name. Remember this: You do not have to quit your regular job to start. You can do it after work and if you complain that you’re too tired after work for anything, well, then you should better not attempt at following your passion.
The bottom line to all this is, that you have to get up, figure out things, change yourself and act. Action frees you from the chains of daydreaming, and that is exactly what you should do. Act.

Know the Cost
“The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision. So write and draw and build and play and dance and live as only you can.”
When we talk about the costs that would be involved for you to realize your dreams, it easily escapes the realms of monetary costs. There are many other costs like time, resources, and energy that you have to invest in your dream so that it becomes true someday. In order to know how much is your passion going to cost you, do one thing, retrospect:
Does the world need you? In other words, creating something always means solving some problems. Ask this question to yourself: Does the world really need what you’re providing them with? What questions are you trying to solve? Are your solutions better than the ones already there in the market? After you’ve successfully found answers to these, it’s time to move on to the second question.
Am I the best in this? We all know that to be a successful person, you need to be not only good but perhaps the best at what you do. If you get to use your gifts as a human in your current job, then you should not really leave it. It is only when you feel that there is so much more than you can give to the world should you consider going forward with your passion.
Is it affordable? Again, just like the costs, affordability here is not just a factor of money and finances. It includes your precious time and energy along with many other resources that decide your idea of affordability. If you think you have enough to get through it, get on it.
Can I quit? Okay, the most important of all. Are you a fighter? Let’s face it. No matter how well-prepared and well-funded you are, failure is going to come in the early stages of your venture. If you are perseverant and determined enough to resist the tough times and come out on top of it, then you should quit your job ASAP.

Explore Your Tribe
“Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs.”
In simpler words, you need to know the demography that you will be serving. Any business is only successful when it has a demand chain that is met by its supply chain. You not only need to have a huge demand pool, but you need to know exactly which category of that pool you are going to serve to. Your products might be worthless to some people and on the other hand be valuable for someone else. You just need to know who to cater to. In case you’ve already figured that out, you can now start getting a little complacent at your current job.

Create And Meet Deadlines
“Just don’t give up trying to do what you really want to do. Where there are love and inspiration, I don’t think you can go wrong.”
You’re your own boss in your own business but that doesn’t mean that you don’t have to meet deadlines. You need a complete map and a checklist and have to at every step measure the progress that you’re making. Set realistic goals for yourself and never get over-ambitious. Remember, patience is the name of the game and you have to make sure that you withstand the test of hard times.

Be Ready To Embrace Failure
“I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing that I wanted to do.”
Okay, so let’s assume that you have everything in place. You have devised an action plan; now it is time for you to go ahead with it. Quit your job and get your hands dirty to successfully follow your passion. However, be prepared for numerous failures that are bound to come your way when you embark upon this journey. Understand that failure is the stepping stone to learning and eventually success. Dedicate yourself in excellence and don’t run behind targets. Do what you do best and even if it appears like everything’s falling apart, get up and start again.
So, there you have it. Perhaps the words above gave you some kind of a perspective, and now you know at what stage of your life you’re in right now. If it is time for you to quit your job or if there is more that you have to do before you can call it a day. In any case, remember to embrace the failure that will come your way and just be persistent. Everything else will fall in place.

What do you think following passion or profession, which one is better? Tell us in the Comments section below!
I feel passion is not the only thing which can be the driving force in a profession. Passion is a feeling which can change from time to time. One must love what they are doing. Though it is not bad to be passionate about something but more than being passionate you must learn to be happy and enjoy the profession you have chosen for yourself. It is important to know that passion should not be chased for because you automatically become passionate about your work if you have a keen interest in what you do.
