Is it right to stop traffic for VIP movement?

‘Experience’ is not just a word, it is a feel of living a moment. It’s true when people say, “experience beats talent.” Counting on silly examples; you don’t know how it is to feel the rain unless you’ve experienced it; you might not know what fear is unless you have escaped death.

Talking of experience, I too had the delight of having a very important experience yesterday. As we (me and husband) ran out of our homely stock, we decided to go out for dinner. Ours is a city not strict in rules and regulation. It is casual to break traffic rules; crossing from the wrong side, riding with no helmet, parking in no parking zone, putting no seat belts, and breaking red lights even in the presence of a traffic police. They are casual too.

Since we were not ravenous, we checked in at a stall beside the road selling junk. My husband parked the car prudently at the left space between the stalls. He stood safe and ordered a meal while I decide to go for a quick bite. I couldn’t gulp more after finishing one-fourth of the plate. The food was not palatable. I waited for him to finish and we decided to leave not wasting more time to watch our favorite soap.

While we were leaving, a constable walked towards us and asked us to take back the car inside. I impatiently frowned at him as he unpretentiously walked away to stop the moving traffic. It took us a moment to understand what was going on. My husband explained guessing it to be some VIP movement and that it was. For another fifteen minutes, we saw the police and the traffic guards struggling to block the roads and relocate the traffic.

Meanwhile, I ran into a debate with my husband on the importance of the ongoing operation. I was against the blockage of traffic for any VIP movement since they are also one of us. I believe money should not rule the reputation. My husband was in favor and felt it was important for security reasons because they hold an important position in our country. Yeah right! They hold a position because we voted for them, I argued back. He cuts off the argument saying I am still immature to understand the politics in this country. I understand the politics, but I do not understand hypocrisy.

I have seen and read about many humble world leaders; they had/have wealth as well as position. Their stories were heart touching and down to earth unlike ours. After a while, the VIP car passed by with three police jeeps in front and two behind. The policemen, standing on road lifted a grand salute at the moving vehicle.

I sighed, not because I had to wait and I missed my soap; for witnessing a very level of hypocrisy. We live in a country where constables tie shoelaces of the designated officials. And out there is the world where the prime minister of a country personally visited the airport to meet Syrian refugees and distribute warm clothes.
