A Tape Reveals Lady Diana's First Suicide Bid Soon After Her Wedding

The opulence of royalty has always attracted the masses, but often the real picture is very grim.

When Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles embraced each other in a passionate kiss following their fairytale wedding ceremony on 29 July 1981, little did anyone know that the beaming Diana would soon try to slash her wrists with razor blades.

But that is what exactly happened a few weeks after the grand wedding and promises of happily ever after. Princess Diana had fallen deep into depression soon after her marriage, and the primary reason for this was her husband’s growing closeness to Camilla Parker Bowles. Even on the day of her wedding, the princess could see her love rival who had attended the ceremony along with her son. Diana may have looked like she was brimming with happiness but she was deeply troubled and worried, she didn’t trust her husband who confided more in Camilla than Diana.

These revelations came out after suicide tapes that were recorded by Diana with the help of a friend emerged; these tapes are being used for a re-published version of Andrew Morton's book, Diana: Her True Story.

Lady Diana was always a beloved princess of the people of England and had global popularity, but her personal life was plagued with problems. She continuously suffered from bulimia and weight problems commonly associated with depression.

The couple had stayed at Balmoral during their honeymoon, but their happiness was short-lived. The couple had officially split on 28 August 1996 and Charles married Camilla Parker in 2005.

The most important date in this entire story though remains to be 31 August 1997. Shock took the whole world on this most unfateful day when Princess Diana succumbed to her injuries and died in a fatal car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris, France. She was traveling with her lover Dodi Fayed and driver and security guard Henri Paul who were also killed in the accident.

No, there is no truth to them.

The life of Lady Diana shows that being a royal is by no means an easy task. What a sad life she led.
