Do you study a lot but fail to remember? Maybe this has something to do with the way you are approaching your studies.
Though there is no denying that hard-work is the key to getting good grades in school, you can also incorporate some habits in your academic life to make learning more efficient.
Here are 7 tips that will help you study better and achieve higher grades.
#1. Don’t consider it a chore
The first thing you have to do is stop taking studies as a chore. If you consider it a task that has to be performed, you will never enjoy it, and if you don’t enjoy it, you will have trouble remembering what you studied. Researchers have concluded that how a student approaches his studies is almost as important as how he studies. A positive mindset is a key to effective learning.

#2. Pick the right place
Where you study plays a crucial role in your learning; hence you should study where you are most comfortable. It may be your bedroom or the school library, just make sure that your study environment is free from all distractions. Just as important as the picking the right place is figuring out the right time to study. While some people consider morning the best time to study, others feel better in the evening. Pick the time which suits you the best.

#3. Study Regularly
Studying on a regular basis not only helps you review things, but also takes off the pressure of last minute cramming. Take out an hour or two of your every day’s schedule for studies and increase the time as your exams approach. Cut down on other activities, such as spending time on the internet, and prioritize your studies.

#4. Explore learning styles
While some students understand better by hearing things, others find visuals like charts and diagrams to be a great help. Getting to know what learning style suits you the best will have a significant impact on your studies. See if making notes helps you get a grasp on things or is it reading out loud. However, it is not necessary that you follow a single way of studying.

#5. Revise
Once or twice, at least, go back over the things you studied last week. This will help you attain a better understanding of concepts and will help you in remembering things better. Quiz yourself; it is a great way to learn what you know, and what you don’t. What you can do is create notes on key points regarding several concepts and study these notes when you are revising.

#6. Use Mnemonic Devices
An effective way to remember key points is using mnemonic techniques. Remember how you use your knuckles to tell which month of the year has 31 days and which 30?! That is a great example of the technique. You also must have heard, “In fourteen hundred and ninety-two Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue”, which reminds us that Columbus discovered America in 1492. You can also use similar rhymes to remember your lessons.

#7. Stay Motivated
What happens with most students is that they devise a great study plan, which works well for a few days, but then they lose motivation and let go. Keep reminding yourself why you started this hard work and where this will take you. What you can do is decorate your study space with motivational quotes or images of your idols.
