Cosmetic surgery is often considered as the magic wand of the modern world. There are two types of Plastic Surgeries - Cosmetic Surgery (to enhance beauty) and Reconstructive Surgery (to improve any deformity). It’s a great option for the people who have got certain physical deformity due to an accident or otherwise. It’s purely a personal decision of those people who get it done just to enhance their looks. We live in an image-obsessed world and to enhance that image some people take the advantage of cosmetic surgery. And recently it has become a global craze to get this surgery done, especially by the celebrities. But there is nothing wrong with it. People have the right to decide whether they want to do it or not.
This is relatively a debatable topic. I have gathered few point in support and in against of Cosmetic Surgery.
• Certainly, there is danger involved in the surgery but it’s purely a personal decision to get it done. We let people bungee jump, that too involves danger. So, why not let people undertake this danger in the pursuit of beauty.
• It increases Self-Confidence. When you look good, you feel good. Concentration on the work is also improved.
• Some studies suggest that if you look more attractive than you may enjoy a lot of personal and professional opportunities.
Few Cases:
Women with heavy breasts go under the knife to get a breast reduction surgery, which is advisable by the doctor. Large Breasted women often experience back pain or neck pain and the surgery results in an immediate relief from these pains. The body posture also improves resulting in a confidence personality. Same goes for the small breasted women, they feel attractive and confident after getting the enhancement surgery. It’s not just women who are getting Cosmetic Surgery but many men are also opting for this surgery to reduce their male breasts too. It has no direct health benefit but it certainly boosts their self-esteem.
My Views:
It’s not like I support the Cosmetic Surgery but if somebody wants to get it done, it is their personal choice. And it shouldn’t be looked down upon or with hatred. There is nothing wrong in looking and feeling attractive. But the Surgery should have a specific age limit. These days, many young girls (between 16-21) are asking for it to look good which I feel is not right. It’s not fair to their body who has not even developed properly. The doctors must be careful of such young girls and must try to talk them out of it. Of course, nobody can force anyone for anything. I feel the parents should also guide their young girls about the health hazards that the Cosmetic Surgery would be bringing with them. After a certain age of let’s say 25 or 26, they can do it. It is a personal choice and it should be respected!
