Are old people disadvantaged by today's usage of the Internet? How?

The older generation is today at a disadvantage because of the usage of internet. This is more prominent in countries that are still developing and where the literacy percentage is not hundred percent among the older section of people. The main disadvantage is that older people take moe time to learn and adapt to changes. Their long years of experience makes them create their own comfort zone from where they do not want to deviate. The will to change also decreases with age and the finger muscles looses its flexibility giving rise to a lack of confidence. Thus they hesitate to handle something that needs their fingers dextrous movement. They fear that they would fail and their needs will remain unfulfilled or incomplete. They would better go to a store to shop for their basic needs than place an order for the essential commodities online as they cannot handle a computer or a feature mobile or use the internet to order for their things. They would better right a letter with their feeble fingers and walk down to the nearest post office using their walking stick, to post the letter and not send an email. The eagerness to learn also subsides with the increase of age.

However there are some elderly people who still have that zeal to learn something new, but the number is very few. That fear of failing and not being able to handle the internet deftly stops them from using the internet.

Technology has made life easy but there should be some way out for the older people so that they do not feel themselves as odd men out.
