What Does PDF Stand For?

PDF is actually a format of a document; we generally refer to such documents as PDF documents. Adobe has developed this file format; it is a universal file format, that preserves all formatting, font, graphics, color and any of the source document. It will preserve all these documents irrespective of the platform you have used to create these documents.

In the early times, it was used for the exchange and sharing of files that were very different from each other and also in desktop publishing. Over the years it has expanded and now includes many new features, which makes it possible to offer a wide range of services. The fact that it is platform independent makes it one of the best options for exchanging various documents. PDF’s make it easier to share any file irrespective of what platform you have created it on. Another, major reason for its dominance is the fact that it does not ask for developing fees from the developers. In 2008, it was released as an open standard. From that time onwards there has been a considerable amount of increase in the adoption of this particular format by the software industry.
