What is a normal Heart Rate?

The heart is essentially the most important component of our body. Without its proper functioning, a person may die instantly or live for a short period. Hence, it’s important for us to know every small detail about its working in order to lead a healthy life. What do you understand by the term heart rate? Let us guide you. It means the number of times your heart beats per minute. The normal rate of a heart differs from person to person. As you begin to age, changes in the rate of the heart and regularity of your pulse may signify a heart condition or a condition that needs a follow-up.

The ideal places to discover your pulse are wrists, foot top, inner side of the elbow and side of your neck.

The concept of resting heart rate means heart is pumping the little amount of blood we need as we’re not exercising. If you are sitting, calm or lying and don’t have an illness then your heart rate is between sixty to hundred beats.

For a better reading, place your finger on the pulse and count the beats in sixty seconds.  A person having a heart rate lower than 60 does not signify a medical problem. It may be a result of taking ‘Beta Blocker’, which is a drug. A lower heart is not uncommon for people who are into too much physical activity or are athletes. People who are active generally have low heart rates because the condition of their heart muscle is in good condition and they don’t need to work hard to maintain a balanced beat.
The resting pulse change does not occur by moderate physical activity. It could change to forty if you are fit. A heart rate between 60-100 might be less active person. It is because the heart muscle has to work powerfully to maintain body functions to make it higher.

#1. Atmosphere Temperate:  Whenever the temperate increases, a little more blood is pumped by the heart so your pulse rate speeds up but not more than five to ten beats a minute.

#2. Body Mass:  The pulse is not changed by the size of the body. You might witness a higher resting pulse than normal if you are suffering from obesity but not more than 100

#3. Use Of Medication:  The pulse gets slower when medicines such as ‘Beta Blockers’ block your adrenaline. Higher thyroid dosage can ruin it by increasing it.

When Should You Call Your Doctor?

If the pulse is very low and have inexplicable fast heart rates and they make you feel faint or dizzy, consult your doctor who can tell whether it is an emergency or not.
