What is the connection between protein and body building?

Are you striving hard to get that perfect body, with bulked up muscles? Then you must definitely be aware about the importance of proteins in the diet to get those picture-perfect muscles.

Proteins are not only needed for body building but even before that, proteins are required by the body to carry out the normal bodily functions. The primary function of the proteins is to aid the process of tissue build up as well as to perform the repair work within the body. In case of repair work of the muscles, protein acts as a stimulant to allow the healing process. This further results into development of stronger muscles.

When an individual performs strength training and body building exercises, the muscles undergoes tears and breakdown. These muscles, then require optimum protein nutrition to undergo repair work, which is achieved through a protein rich diet. In the body building process, there is a continuous cycle of damage and repair of muscles, which results in stronger and larger muscles.  


Foods like eggs, meat, beans, milk and dairy products are a rich source of proteins and help in growth and development of muscles. Though there are several protein supplements available in the market that help in body building, but it should be kept in mind that body cannot utilize excessive protein and this can further result in severe complications like kidney failure and liver damage.

Yes, I strongly agree with protein help to repair the damaged or broken muscles after gym. 

I am a fitness freak, I prefer to go to a gym on regular basis. Before the workout, I prefer to have food which high in calorie and protein, and right after a workout, I need lean protein and that I get from Greek yogurt. Taking protein which can be easily and quickly observed by the body helps the fast recovery of broken

As it is already well said- partial knowledge is dangerous. Same with in this body building field, people think protein only need when a person is making body but they need to read about basic information about human body. As minerals and vitamins are need of body so are protein.
