What to do when you Feel like 'All Over The Place'?

Are you having that day where you feel like stopping everything you are doing and just run away to someplace far away? Do you feel that you are all over the place? For those who are clueless about the term, 'All over the place' is an idiom and its definition is quite literal.

'All over the place' means being scattered to every place, spread over a large place or being everywhere. Let us understand with the help of an example. You are a mother of two, and you have to take care of your young children who need constant attention, you are also a wife, so you also have to be available for your husband when he needs you, you are also a working woman and your office colleagues need you to work there. Basically, you have to be a mother, a wife, and the best employee altogether every day and this not restricted to just women. We all have various roles and responsibilities to play in our lives. We all belong to each other in some way, and all these relationships carry some baggage of duties along with them. You are needed at your workplace, your home and with your friends. You feel scattered everywhere, and you do not know how to fulfill all the responsibilities at once. Technology hasn’t been able to allow us to make our clones yet and unfortunately, we cannot distribute ourselves to complete all our duties. You have to be everywhere and that makes you feel like you are losing yourself. You are losing the connection with your soul. You do not know exactly the reason why you have so many duties and why should you be doing them.

All this happens when you lose yourself somewhere in the middle of the path, and you cannot remember the directions to go back home. You forget yourself when you are available for other things in life. We need to collect ourselves from all the scattered corners to build one strong building “us.”

When we fail to stay together with our inner self, a lot of problems start occurring in our lives, and we quite do not know how to face them, and that is why we feel like running somewhere and start a new life. We have a lot of responsibilities as we discussed above and all of them add up a huge amount of stress over our minds. The feelings of fear, anxiety, frustration, and disdain cloud our mind and heart. Why? Because when you have so many things to do, and you are not sure if you can do all of them and you are not confident of completing those duties as expected, such feelings are bound to arise. When you are unable to handle and manage all of them, then you may feel this way. The expectations you have for yourself and the expectations other people have from you, make you nervous and apprehensive.

Sometimes we are unable to carry the burden of our expectations and that is the point when we start falling and breaking down. Being all over the place is demanding, and not everyone is ready. Sometimes we have to take up a lot of duties due to the absence of another responsible person. At that point, we are not ready, and those responsibilities or tasks become a headache for us. This scattering of our mind’s presence all over the place can make us mentally and physically unhealthy. Therefore we need to reconnect with ourselves, our souls and the inner core that is inactivated because you have not been able to pay attention to it. When you reconnect with yourself, you will have the power to take out all the tasks and duties without feeling scattered.

Let us know how we can reconnect with our self and what should you do when you feel like ‘all over the place.'

#1. Purpose

The foremost remedy is to be aware and understand the purpose of all your duties. You may be working in the spheres that are not significant for you. These become an extra burden on your shoulders. When you think about the reasons why you are holding on to a certain duty, you will be able to do it more responsibly without whining about it. We often forget the importance of things around us, so when you stop and take a minute to think about them, you will understand their importance. If you find something that is not necessary for you then you can scrap that thing out and you will have less work.

#2. Time For Self

In the midst of working for everyone and everything, we often forget about ourselves. We stop thinking about us, and we do not give time to ourselves. It is very important for us to pamper ourselves who keep busy every day. When we do not take care, our health deteriorates, and we start developing various ailment. Sometimes these ailments take the form of chronic diseases which take a lot of time to heal. So, it is very important that you give yourself some time to visit a doctor. We all should get a monthly full body checkup done from a doctor. If the doctor finds some symptoms that may develop into a disease, later, then you should start taking precautions. A little relaxation is also very important when you have been working every day so you can visit a spa or you can shop for yourself on the weekend. Take yourself out on a date and forget out about all the things you have to do for that moment.

This happens a lot. We all feel like we are all over the place because we have so many things to do in our daily lives. We have to work and then we have to take care of our family and spend time with our loved ones. All of this can prove to be hectic enough to give us a headache. That is why management is very important. The only reason management is emphasized is that it gives a direction to our life and we can know what we really want to do and when should we do it. Everything has its right time and its right place so when we start managing our work we can know what will be the right time to do something. For example we have to learn cooking but we have to go for work and also we have to party with our friends and then baby sit your sibling. In this case you will work at your workplace and then you will take your classes after which you can attend a meeting with your friends and finally you can baby sit your sibling at night. Some days you may find yourself in a hoard of work and that day your scheduled life will prove to be a blessing for you. We should prioritize our work and goals according to their level of importance. If you still find yourself stuck in a maze of work then you can practice meditation. Take long deep breaths whenever stress works up your mind. Deep breaths will help you calm down your mind and will give you the ability to think clearly. And once in a while we should all take some time off work and plan vacations either solo or with our friends. Vacations will release all the tension of the work and responsibilities.
