Betty Marion White Ludden is often regarded as America’s sweetheart. She has been a part of a number of movies and even if you have not heard of her before, you would have surely remembered her from 'The Proposal.' The funny actress gave a tough competition to Ryan Reynolds. 

Betty White was born on 17th January 1922 and the actress is 95 years old. What's the most amazing part about her, is that all these years she has still not lost her pizza and continues to be a part of movies and TV shows. Her most prominent role still remains to be Rose Nylund in 'Golden Girls'.

A popular satirical website called the Empire News published what is famously known as a ‘punning article’. The article was trying to tell that Betty White is not really a natural blonde and dyes her hair in the privacy of her home and made it sound like she is dead. The headline read ‘Betty White Dyes Peacefully in Her Los Angeles Home’. The readers who read it got confused and paying no attention to the fact that it is a satirical website or on the homophone die/dye, they jumped to their own conclusions. News spreads like fire on the internet and the result was that most people thought that Betty White is dead.

Death Hoax 

The article was obviously a spoof not unlike the other fake news items that the website publishes. Though all thanks to social media sites like the twitter, the news spread like wildfire and condolences started to pour in from all over the world. The fans of Betty White were more prepared for an apocalypse then seeing their favorite actress die. Finally, the actress had to swat away the rumors by posting an image of herself at the 'The Late Late Show With James Corden'. She assured her fans that she is well and not dead.

It might surprise you to know that the funny star is quite a rich one as well. She has a net worth of $45 million. She has worked for a really long time and has her name in the Guinness book of world record for "Longest TV Career for an Entertainer (Female).
