Have you ever had those feelings arising from your heart that you have ignored, only to realize the fact that you were wrong? Have you ever strongly felt this intuition within guiding you to do something that does not seem practical enough? Have you been afraid to listen to your heart? Do you sometimes feel like there are some things your heart is pointing at and your mind is saying something else? We all face some situations where we are confronted with this confusion regarding when we should listen to our heart and when we should not. Listening to your heart can be very crucial for you and at the same time can prove to be very difficult.
We are all conditioned by the society in such a way that we all find it difficult to take a lot of decisions from our heart. Following the heart is not what we are taught to do. We are often told to look at how logical a decision can prove to be, how profitable they will be financially, so on and so forth. For example: if we have to make a career decision we are told to look at the kind of money we will be able to make by choosing the career, we are also told to look at the kind of position it will provide us in the society. We are never told to take into consideration, how we will feel doing the job, in the career we choose to have. The way we feel does not have anything to do with thinking mechanically; it has everything to do with letting your heart lead. This is a concept that the society does not really tell us. But, this is the most important thing to keep in mind for all the decisions we choose to make in our lives.

When we choose to listen to our heart, we take into consideration the true desire of our soul. We all have become so accustomed to the concept of living life mechanically and making decisions on the basis of the kind of material gains we can have from each thing we choose to do in life. We have actually forgotten the way it feels to live an emotionally fulfilling life. Yes, it very important to have enough resources to be able to live a comfortable life, but, not at the cost of being emotionally unhappy.
Another thing that comes in the way of us following our heart is the fact that we all are constantly trying to prove ourselves to the world. We wish to make each person happy and to prove certain things to them. This is often done at the cost of ignoring what makes us happy. It is very important for us to understand the fact that we do not really need to prove anything to anyone else. We do not need to do things to make our parents, friend and spouse happy, all of it at the cost of our happiness. Yes, we should be caring and be loving but, not sabotage our hearts desire to make anyone happy. We fail to understand the fact that, if we cannot keep ourselves happy, we cannot make anyone else happy.

Here are some reasons that will make it clear to you, why you need to follow your heart and why it can prove to be the best thing for you.
Reasons For Always Following Your Heart
#1. The best reason for following your heart while you make decisions in life is, once you start doing so, you will not have any regrets anymore. This is a fact that we fail to understand. We have a huge amount of apprehensions regarding deciding the heart. It seems illogical and at times there are risks involved. But, the idea is very clear, when you decide from your heart; you will undoubtedly give your 100% to the thing you choose to do. This makes it impossible for your decision to leave you with any regrets. Even if you encounter disappointment along the path that you choose from your heart, you will not regret it and will always be willing to be patient and persevere for what you wish to achieve from the bottom of your heart.

#2. When you start to follow your heart, you will see the difference in the way you look at yourself. The fact that you were not able to make decisions that were from your heart may surely have been the cause of many dissatisfactions in your life. This may have surely caused damage to your self-esteem and happiness in life. When you finally gather the courage to make decisions from your heart and gain emotional happiness in your life, you will fall in love with yourself all over again. This is what will increase your respect for yourself and also the way you see yourself. The idea that you are no more afraid of freely taking your decisions will induce a sense of freedom and happiness which is very crucial for joyfully living your life.
#3. For the first time in your life, you will meet your true self. Yes, each time you make a decision or choose to do something that is the true desire of your heart, you will discover a new version of yourself. All those activities that you restricted yourself from doing because you were too afraid to go against the norms of the society and against what is prescribed for you, are the true desires that you will be happy doing. Once you begin to start doing these things consciously, you will be acquainted with all those aspects of your personality that you suppressed for all this while. The fact that you are not afraid anymore and understand the importance of giving priority to your feelings will lead to a rise of newfound respect for yourself.

#4. When you begin to follow your heart, you will stop overthinking. It will not only become easy to stop fearing the negative norms, but you will not overthink things anymore. When you decide from your heart, you will see how easy it becomes for you to take risks and to face the roadblocks. You will find how willing you are to make things happen; you will no more need to overthink about the consequences and the difficulties you will have to face for reaching your goal. The main reason for this is the fact that when we wish to walk on the path that is close to our heart, we already know that we are going to be very happy doing what we have chosen, and thus, the idea of roadblocks will no more scare us. The end result is so satisfying and liberating that no adversities are good enough to stop us.
#5. The moment you start listening to your heart, you will be able to listen to your intuition. The more you say yes to your true heart’s desire, more you make space for your intuition to guide you. Your intuition is often always right, and the deep knowledge is coming from within which guides us when we are completely lost.

We really need to follow our heart. I can tell you from what I have experienced, there is a vast difference between the kind of life, you lead when you follow your heart and when you are completely in the dark. The worst feeling is when you truly wish to follow your heart and are unable to do so, because of the barriers you yourself have created in your mind. It is a feeling of being stuck and living a life so meaning less than it becomes impossible to go on. When we decide to break this prison we have created in our own mind and take the path that our heart is constantly telling us to choose, we do ourselves a huge favor. Really! When I decided to do the same it was a feeling of being free from a prison, where there was no light for years. When the light finally came in, it was so very beautiful and new, I could hardly recognize it as my own life. What we need to get rid of are the fears we all have because of our upbringing, because of what we see others facing and because of the inability to get out of our comfort zone. Getting these out of the mind can be the best way to start following your heart. You will also need to stop paying heed to what the opinions of the others are. The biggest hindrance that you will ever face is the fact that people have a mega potential to scare the hell out of you, even when you are ready to take the risk and walk on the path you choose from your heart, others will always have a story regarding how things may turn worse. But, at the end of the day following your heart and freely making decisions can be the best thing you will ever experience.
