Certainly yeah, I like to watch cartoons. Now that you ask me, I mostly watch cartoons. You ask me why? Well, the reiterated answer which I give to everyone who asks me is this, “It makes me laugh.” Seriously yes, it makes me feel free from all the weariness of life. If you haven’t tried it, you’ve got to. It’s cool. Don’t say that you haven’t watched the most popular funny cartoon, Tom and Jerry.
Even if you watch it a hundred times you won’t get tired of it, do you? It is packed with fun and is rife with falling, catching, running, hiding, fighting and so on. Cartoons are meant for children, but we often wish to relive the life of a child. That’s why, I guess, we tend to incline towards it.
Cartoons are not only fun but it also teaches something about life. Life sometimes leaves us in trenches and we are crushed inside by stress. But happy stuff like cartoons makes us feel light and relaxed. Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse remains a favorite of many. To mention a few- Popeye the Sailor man, Scooby-Doo, The Powerpuff Girls, Looney Tunes and others.
Be it fantastical, adventurous, comedy or superhero stuff, all are entertaining. Cartoons like Ben 10, Teen Titans, Pokémon and all those superhero stuff have their own way to entertain us. And the kid cartoons like Bob the Builder, Dora the Explorer, Oswald, Little Einstein’s, too make us smile. Nowadays, Doraemon, Oggy and the Cockroaches, Chhota Bheem and others amuse children and us.
Andrea L’ Artiste, the children’s author says, “Sometimes we just need a little break from this thing we call 'life', and step into the cartoon life for a moment”. Undeniably it is true. The so-called life that we live in is enigmatic and we don’t know what is ahead but little breaks or pauses in life are good. It makes us happy, fresh and revived that we again move into life with a new gusto. The funny thing is that we sometimes wish that we were in the cartoon world all the time, but then what about life? So watching cartoons would be just a way to refresh ourselves as our computers would.
Sometimes the innocence in us is kindled while we watch cartoons as we become a child in doing so. It also gives us happiness. No matter how angry, irritated and unhappy we are when we see cartoons our faces spontaneously brighten and we laugh heartily. Sometimes they make us nostalgic and we are caught in the sweet past. It becomes a memory portal, where we can see our past and smile over it. Every cartoon channels are humorous and witty. They teach and make us feel unperturbed. Life becomes hassle-free when we watch cartoons.
Apparently, everything about cartoons is funny and sometimes hilarious. The time spent in watching a cartoon is worthwhile rather than watching movies or TV shows. It is due to the fact that we can laugh and laughter is a good medicine as the saying goes. And it doesn’t take too much of our time. It is short and amusing. It will take out all our troubles and for some time it makes us feel tranquil and free. Sometimes witty jokes in cartoons teach us much stuff and it can boost our energy much more than watching other stuff. The thing learned from cartoons will get stored in our minds faster as it is enhanced with fun.
Cartoons have a way of making us feel awesome as we tend to dream of living a life of the cartoon character. Seemingly silly but don’t we all dream of something ethereal. So the life of a child is not that bad to relive once in a while.
Some people may think that those who watch cartoons are weird or very childish, but they don’t know what they are missing. Many watch cartoons only, even when they become adults. There’s nothing wrong in it. The fun, purity and the innocence of a child are what we yearn for, as life is hard when we know too much. Daniel Sean Kaye, in his book “Never Underestimate a Hermit Crab” says, “I could spend the rest of my life writing and drawing books for kids and be a very happy man.” A life of a kid is thus, always merry so that one can live with that. And that is why we like to watch cartoons. I mean who would want to miss the funny pranks of cartoons.
