Ditch Your Car! Download Car Pool Apps And Travel With Ease

The idea of carpooling is pretty straightforward; to reduce the terrible traffic in metropolitans like Mumbai and Delhi. For the past two years, car-pooling has been given a lot of considerations and has become the talk of the town.

Looking at the uncontrollable traffic, US cab service providers, Uber and Carma came up with the idea of carpooling because it was readily available and super economical. Slowly India began to grasp the concept and initiated the same in its country. Although the cab services have become a super hit venture in the country, there is still a long time until the car pooling apps are as popular as they are in the US.

#1. BlaBlaCar

It is one of the most popular carpool apps in India and was founded in 2013. The app was developed keeping the festive season in mind during which public transport is jam packed. This app aimed at reducing congestion in public transports and also sharing the fuel cost. The app is both economically and ecologically friendly. The app is available for both Android and iOS users who have the facility to sync in their social media profile. The booking process is convenient and hassle-free except the payment which is only accepted in cash. Presently the app works in Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, and Chennai.

#2. Ola Share

Ola Share, yet another popular name, also has the option to book a shared ride. Once in a shared cab you need not wait for others to book, the bookings take place while you are on your way. It not just saves fuel but your money too.

You can choose the people you want to share your ride with by creating groups. These groups can be based on basic aspects like gender or location. The app covers cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and more in India.

#3. ToGo (Together We Go)

ToGo is rapidly emerging as a carpooling mobile app. It aims at letting people commuting on the same routes pool in together. For doing so, the app offers a chat option through which passengers can chat and finds suitable fellow travelers. The app is not leaving any stone unturned to reach the popularity that other apps are enjoying.

#4. SRide

SRide is another carpooling app which is growing fast in India.  The app, which is available on both Android and iOS. was developed in 2014 with an aim to provide feasible travel and reduce pollution. The app’s main focus is to provide safe rides to its passengers, for which a background check of every driver is mandatory. It is a must for every passenger to review their ride and the company closely tracks the driver reviews. This creates a conversation which provides feedbacks for other riders.

#5. Ridely

The owners, Varun, Rachit and Ankur left their jobs at Jabong to start this Indian-based carpooling app. The app is a fresh and innovative idea and ranks among the top 10 carpool apps in the country. It is a part of the Microsoft BizSpark Program and Facebook’s FBStart program. Presently it is available in Delhi-NCR, Hyderabad, Pune, Bangalore, and Mumbai.

#6. Carpool by Meru 

Meru launched its carpool app back in 2006 across the country. It was a “first–of-its-kind“ service which didn’t limit to a few cities. The company is running over 12 million with an aim to gain popularity and trust just like its parent company Meru. As a matter of fact, Carpool offers the “personal car” ride sharing option for passengers commuting on the same route.

#7. ZIFY

ZIFY is a Hyderabad based company and is listed in the Indian carpooling apps. It has similar aims of reducing the never ending traffic on the Indian roads.ZIFY uses the “Smart Route Matching” algorithm to be able to provide easy pickups and drops and increase bookings. The app has the option of making cashless payments. It has been giving major competition to apps like BlaBlaCar, Tripda, Ryde and Carpool by Meru.
