Has ola and uber revolutionized public transport in India?

Traveling back in time by five years, in India, we wouldn’t know about Ola and Uber as they weren’t established then. Today, these app-based cab services are being used to complete over 7, 50,000 rides every day with more than 2,50,000 cars on the road.

Ola and Uber’s transportation provides all the benefits of traditional taxi services, plus extra conveniences while removing many of the challenges that must be dealt with the use of conventional taxis and auto rickshaws. The use of these cab services has also introduced new rules that govern the way things are done, such as pricing, and decision-making options for both drivers and passengers.

The majority of commuters believe Ola and Uber cabs services are cheaper as compared to other modes of transportation. An online survey reveals 58,450 passengers rated ‘good’ for the willingness of drivers to take commuters to their desired locations whereas only 1,586 and 4,103 for conventional taxis and auto rickshaws respectively.

Moreover, survey respondents have also rated the behavior of drivers and the feedback system with such grade levels which indicate reliability and safety of these cab services. Driving an Ola or Uber cab has become more than just a monetary avenue for some who find the job respectable and even more comfortable than their previous employment.

In short, Ola and Uber have revolutionized public transport and taken it to a whole new level, making their service as a convenient and best mode of transport with their expansion, acquisition of customer base and retention of drivers.
