Segregation is essential. It means the act of separating. This process is done to avoid overlapping of responsibilities and conflicts.
India’s public broadcaster Doordarshan has finally implemented the policy of segregation into its two channels, DD-India and DD-News after the two channels failed to outperform private broadcasters.

DD-India is all set to work as 24/7 English channel whereas DD-News will broadcast news only in Hindi. This was finalized in the latest meeting of the Prasar Bharti Board members, held on June 11, 2017.
According to an official, “DD News has its set of issues, and DD-India too struggled badly to emerge as a leading global channel due to lack of resources and poor distribution.”

The meeting also led to the decision that DD-News will no longer be working as a hybrid; it has to make its identity like the other private news channels are doing. However, Sanskrit programming will continue to be a part of DD News broadcasting for now.
