Do dogs laugh?

Have you ever noticed a smile on your pet dog’s face? - Does it appear strange ,but true!

Laughter had been found to be a unique emotional expression that can be solely found in humans. The study of animal emotions seems to have expanded this concept. Konrad Lorenz – the Nobel Prize-winning ethnologist suggested the idea of dogs being actually capable of laughing.

A research in this regard was conducted by Patricia Simonet at the Sierra Nevada College in Lake Tahoe where her team was made to stand in parks with a special microphone that enabled the recording of dog sounds from a distance. To the untrained human ear , it sounded more like a panting ‘huh huh’. On analysis of the recordings, it was found that this kind of exhalation broke into a wider series of frequencies than regular dog panting. The positive effects of this sound of laughter were confirmed via an experiment conducted on 15 puppies that reacted joyfully on hearing the recorded canine laughter. It was also proved that such sounds helped calming dogs of an animal shelter.

So the next time your canine friend appears anxious or panicked, just try imitating laughter sounds and see if it works on him!

Yes, they do!

Yes, I too think so that dogs laugh. Whenever we play with them or pamper them they seem to be happy and that happiness reveals in their eyes. Also it has been proven by few research centers that dogs too laugh.
