The two highly popular world leaders, President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are seen in a similar light, due to their pro-development and pro-business approach. Many have even labeled Donald Trump as an American version of Narendra Modi.
Well, despite the similarities between Trump and Modi, the two are quite different when it comes to their background, policies, and agendas. While highlighting the distinctiveness of the two leaders, here is how Trump is different from Narendra Modi.
Trump V/s Modi
#1. Background Check
If you look into the past and background of the two political leaders, you will see a great amount of difference. While Trump is a born billionaire and leads an extravagant and flamboyant lifestyle, Narendra Modi comes from an entirely different background. Prime Minister Modi constantly refers to his past when he was helping his father sell tea in Gujarat.
#2. Election Campaign
The agenda behind the election campaign of the two leaders was quite different. Their policies and promises gave an entirely different message to the masses. While Trump’s campaign was evidently exclusionary in nature and focused more on eradication of ‘Radical Islam’, Modi professed a more unified outlook during his election campaign while a promising development for all.

#3. Political Experience
When it comes to political experience, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has quite a greater amount of political experience than President Trump. While Donald Trump’s entry into the political world was quite sudden, Narendra Modi has a long history of association with RSS, serving as Chief Minister of Gujarat, and becoming the Prime Minister of India thereafter.

#4. An Alternative
By carefully analyzing the approach that the two leaders had, you will see the difference between the way they present themselves and their policies. While President Trump can be seen as an anti-establishment force altogether who seeks to attack the prevailing system and reform it entirely, the representation of Narendra Modi was more on the lines of the best substitute for the already ruling Congress Party in India.
#5. Political Brand And Religious Discourse
While President Trump has been quite upfront and focused in his attacks on an entire religion, Narendra Modi’s politically colored verbal attacks usually target the opposition parties. Irrespective of subtle hints, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not been as outspoken about a religion as President Trump.

#6. The Image
When it comes to their image as an individual, the two have been in controversy on the subject of their relationship with women, for entirely different reasons though. While President Trump has been in limelight with his three marriages and various controversial relationships, Prime Minister Modi took the Indian masses by surprise, when it was revealed during the general election of 2014 that he had left his wife soon after the marriage to live a solitary life.
Can You Compare The Two World Leaders?
The two extremely popular political leaders do share a common obsession with self-promotion and media coverage. However, if you look into their pattern of governance, it has been quite different. While one has been endlessly attempting to connect with the globe, the other seems to be reluctant of everything that is foreign.
It is safe to say that, given the different social, political, and economic challenges that each nation has to face, it is quite far-fetched to see their leaders in the same light.
