The pioneer of Germany’s 1990 reunification and the former Statesperson, Helmut Kohl died at the age of 87 at his residence. Kohl was Germany’s longest-serving Statesperson and was also the force behind the advent of Euro currency. The former Statesperson had often been credited for the unity of entire Europe. Kohl was also honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1999 by US President Bill Clinton.

Former US President George W. Bush paid tribute to Kohl and referred to him as “a true friend of freedom”. British Prime Minister, Theresa May also expressed grief on the loss of Father of Modern Germany.
