Colic starts, when your baby is around 3 weeks old.
Your child may start crying with pain or moaning. Colic in your baby, may be distressing to the parents too. Mothers can get postpartum depression due to colic babies.
Reason for colic may be air trapped in your babies abdominal cavity. This may be the reason of pain.
Warm bath - Warm bath will give a soothing effect to your baby. Massage your baby's tummy while giving him a bath. This will relieve the painful trapped gas. Dry him and rock him to sleep.
Knee pushing exercise - Hold your baby's knees together and gently push them towards tummy. Hold the legs for count 10. Repeat several times a day. Do not do this forcefully.
Asafoetida - Add a pinch of asafoetida to a tablespoon of water. Heat this and allow to cool. Rub this around your baby's navel.
Peppermint essential oil - Peppermint helps reduce flatulance. Add two drops of peppermint to almond oil and massage this on your baby's tummy. Massage in circular motions.
Burp your child - Try burping your child after feeding. Include yogurt in your diet and eliminate caffeine, alcohol and chocolates from your diet.
Haven't tried any of them. But seems the remedies are for sure going to be helpful in making the colic in baby calm.
