Answer

The birth rate (technically, births/population rate) is the total number of live births per 1,000 of a population in a year or period. The rate of births in a population is calculated in several ways: live births from a universal registration system for births, deaths, and marriages; population counts from a census, and estimation through specialized demographic techniques.

The 2016 average of 18.6 births per 1,000 total population is estimated to be about 4.3 births/second or about 256 births/minute for the world

Ten methods used for measuring birth rate.

1. Crude Birth Rate

2. Corrected Birth Rate

3. General Fertility Rate

4. Age Specific Fertility

5. Total Fertility Rate

6. Gross Reproduction Rate

7. Net Reproduction Rate

8. Completed Fertility Rate

9. Standardised Fertility Rate (SFR)

10. Cohort Fertility Rate (CFR).
