How to put your toddler to sleep?

Congratulations!

You have successfully managed to overcome probably the dullest (at the same time the most memorable) phase of your child's life. In most cases by the time kids reach the age of 2 they have already developed a pattern for sleep. However, many kids and parents continue to struggle with sleep depravity. Different studies over a period of time have stated its significance.

National Center for Biotechnology Information, US states that "Broadly speaking, it might be argued that the most fundamental requirements for healthy growth and development in young children include a) loving support and protection by parents/caretakers, b) adequate nutrition, and c) adequate sleep."

So, how do we get the child to sleep adequately?

Well, here are a set of practices that can help your child achieve suitable amount of sleep:

Plan the entire day’s activities

Starting from the time he/she wakes up you need to set a course of activities that includes, meal time, play time, outdoors, reading and finally nap time. Regular sequences of activities help child register the idea of a plan that he is supposed to follow every day.

Create comfort zone

To make your child zone-out to a sleep land you must ensure that his surroundings are in sync with. While playing and reading a child should be accustomed to bright rooms, the bed-time must always be about dim-lights, soft toys and cozy beddings.

Bath before bed

Works like a charm; it is probably the oldest method and most mothers vouch for this. A warm bath before bed helps the child soothe and relax. Furthermore, comfortable clothing is a must for your child to sleep fast.

Help the child set his biological clock

The ideal time suggested for toddlers to go to sleep is between 7pm to 8pm. In many cases problem of sleep-depravity stems from the fact that parents don’t abide by the great-grand habit of sleeping early. What they end up doing is creating an overtly fatigued toddler. This grumpy child now is unable to sleep even more and hence starts throwing all kinds of temper-tantrums. To avoid such instances one must refrain from sending kids to bed late in the night.

Activities Before Bed-time

A toddler may be uneasy for a variety of reasons; he may be in need of a warm cuddle, wants to snack on some cookies, is unhappy with the newly developed pre-school time, etc. All this can lead to great frustration amongst kids that young which can cause sleeplessness. It is important for parents to try to resolve such issues and provide a comfortable setting for a child to sleep in. Keeping bedtime stories as a regular activity while snacking on some cookies can turn out to be a great way to bond with your young one.

Some precision and compliance to uniformity of a regime can do wonders for your child. It not only helps the child sleep well, but also helps him understand the course of events that are indispensable for him at that age.
