Is it possible to be happy all the time? If yes, then how?

Happiness is a state of mind. It is not associated with any physical condition. In fact, happiness is a choice. If you choose to be happy, you can be happy. But, much practice is required to be happy all the time. However, many people often associate the state of happiness with certain conditions. They think that they feel happy only if they own their dream house, while driving their favorite car and after meeting their favorite people.  An interesting fact is that you can be happy even before acquiring all these things. Moreover, as you feel happy more often, your brain works smartly because you are loading it with a powerful fuel known as ‘happiness’. If you want to be happy all the time, you need to constantly focus on your state of mind. Also, you can make some modifications to your lifestyle which is an important factor to make you feel happy all through the day.

1. Show your gratitude

Make a list of the things you are grateful for. You must be reading this list as soon as you wake up in the morning. This process helps to boost happiness in your mind. Many studies revealed that human brain always focuses on various negative aspects of life like failures, worries, discontent and tragedies. Hence, you need to direct your thoughts towards positivity. Hence, learn to be grateful. Every day, as you wake up, read the list of things you are thankful for.

2. Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness is nothing but building a connection with the present moment. In this busy world, people are loaded with a number of activities. In the rush of accomplishing necessary tasks, you may tend to lose connection with the current moment. Mindfulness can be regarded as the practice of focusing your thoughts on the present moment and accepting the present moment without any judgment. It is one of the key factors in happiness.

3. Get adequate sleep

You need to get adequate sleep. Otherwise, chances are high for negativity to overtake your thoughts. As per studies, lack of sleep highlights one part of the brain that is responsible for creating more and more negative thoughts. When you get adequate sleep, your brain does not worry much about negative thoughts. Now, you might have understood why you are in a bad mood when you do not get a good night’s sleep.

4. Exercise

Exercise is the key factor for promoting happiness. Endorphin is a feel good chemical which gets produced when you exercise. This chemical is responsible for interacting with the receptors of the brain that help in reducing your perception of pain. Also, endorphins play a major role in triggering positivity in you. Many studies reveal that exercise is important for a healthy body and mind. Thus, exercise plays a key role in uplifting your mood.

5. Help others

The real beauty of happiness lies in helping others. Life is very short. Buying large houses, phones or cars may seem to increase your overall happiness  for a shorter period but may not help in long term. It is only short lived. When you dedicate your valuable time in helping others, you tend to be much happier than before. In fact, this kind of happiness lasts with you forever. It is not short-lived. When you choose to be happy all the time, you must also cultivate the habit of helping others.

6. Identify your strengths

People often feel sad by thinking of their weakness. Instead, divert your thinking towards your strengths. Put some efforts for improving the weak areas. It is a practical approach for staying happy all the time. When you focus on only your weakness, you can find no progression in your life. As a result, you tend to feel upset all through your life. Identifying your strengths helps in inviting happiness into your life.

7. Treasure your memorable experiences

Treasuring memorable experiences is very helpful in making you happy. In fact, treasuring experiences help in increasing happiness when compared to material things that you purchase. Material things may get distracted as the time passes on. But, treasuring experiences stay in the same state. Experience cannot be changed. It is non-destructive. Hence, people should always prefer to build up such experiences. When you visit a place, rather than acquiring material things, try to build up memorable experiences. Visit a place for trekking. Implement this technique and notice the positive results.
