I stay in a housing complex that is close to a slum. The western and southern sides of my house are surrounded by slums that are the haven for all sorts of crime, especially theft, illicit liquor trade and flesh trade. At the age of 56, even I fall victim to lewd remarks, stalking and immodest behavior.
These slums are the vote bank for the local politicians but do they have the right to harbor them at the expense of the safety and dignity of the women in the area? Most of the houses in the slums are built illegally on government plot. Don't the town planning authority have any duty towards us? Shouldn't they monitor and check this illegal proliferation of houses that give rise to slums? While I have had it up to here with these slums, I would like to know what you think. Do you think it is safe for women to live near slum areas?

Women should try to avoid residing near slum areas. the areas are usually unsafe and unhygienic.
