Is Mumbai Floods a stark Reminder of the Lessons Mumbai did not Learn in 2005?

The flooding of Mumbai on August 29th, 2017 has raised concerns in the mind of every citizen who feels that BMC and the administration have learned no lesson from the flash floods that took place in Mumbai in the year 2005.

Do you think the present situation of Mumbai could have been averted if the BMC would have taken preventive steps ahead of meteorological warning? What's your take on the present scenario?

Well, I don't think they have learned. Wish they had learned their lessons in the year 2015 itself. Disgusting!

History does repeat itself. the municipal authorities did not learn their lessons and look what the situation is in Mumbai now. they have failed to provide proper drainage system in the city.

Indeed, the deluge of 2005 was a major catastrophe in the history of Mumbai. But looking at the situation today, the BMC and the authorities clearly have not learned their lessons. The city's drainage system is appalling. Mumbai will suffer every year if the drainage system is not updated.
