A match (literally) made in heaven and having crossed almost four decades, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan celebrate their 44th wedding anniversary today. The two got into wedlock on 3rd June 1973 after working together in the film, Zanjeer. This Bollywood couple is no less than an old wine that becomes better with time. They can easily be a perfect relationship example for everyone else.
As one of the most admired couples in the Indian cinema, the duo shares a bond that's magical and effervescent. Both are aging gracefully, rather, unfolding their lives in style with love and trust. Theirs is a classic Jodi from all aspects. They are simple, they are elegant, and they are the most appreciated pair of the Indian Cinema.

At the chat show Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Amitabh opened up about how he saw Jaya Bhaduri (now Jaya Bachchan) on the cover page of a magazine. Her beautiful eyes caught his attention, and the way Jaya looked was both a blend of modern and traditional outlooks like he always wished for in a woman. And it was later when Hrishikesh Mukherjee approached with the script of Guddi to which Amitabh was excited as there was a possibility of being cast opposite each other.
In an interview at Rendezvous with Simi Garewal, Jaya Bachchan also revealed that she was intimidated about meeting Amitabh Bachchan in person for the first time. Amitabh was the only one who could have ever directed her to do something to which she would happily respond. And at times, she even did things to please him! It surely wasn't love at first sight for either of them but things started to fall in place soon after they met.

This star couple joined in wedlock after working together in the film Zanjeer (by Prakash Mehra). Since then, they've worked together in several successful & critically treasured hits. A few of these had the spread of high-spirited romance on the screen. They showcased real-life-like chemistry on the reel.
Ek Nazar, a 1972 classic, applauded by the audience showcased romantic chemistry between the two. Zanjeer (1973) too makes it to the list, as the chemistry between Jaya and Amitabh was worth watching in this super hit and much-appreciated film. Chupke Chupke (1975), a comedy-drama, also ropes in the romance of Amitabh and Jaya. Silsila (1981), a love plot with a unique story that gives out answers to the conflicts of societal expectations and survival of a relationship. The duo charmed the audience with their romantic appearances.
All of these are timeless films and would stay in millions of hearts till generations to come.
The two share a special bond with each other and also trust each other completely. None of the rumors have ever affected the couple negatively. Jaya even once mentioned how she trusts Amitabh and has never been threatened or felt vulnerable about anything. None of them bother about any gossips surrounding them which makes every situation lighter without having them to agree or disagree with it.

Jaya Bachchan has always insisted on saying that quitting Bollywood was entirely her decision and not even once did she speak about it with Amitabh. All the offers were constantly of the similar kind of cinema which did not interest her in any way. Hence, leaving showbiz and having the prospect of spending time with family and kids came in as a much interesting choice.
Love and trust are surely on the agenda, but both Amitabh and Jaya agree that their children, Abhishek & Shweta, are the strengths of their relationship.

While shooting for the film Sholay, Jaya was pregnant with her first kid, and the entire crew made sure to look after her in the best possible manner. Even Dharmendra and Hema stood beside her along with Amitabh to help her bear the harsh weather conditions & hectic schedules of the film.
Both Amitabh and Rekha are timeless, legendary actors of the Bollywood industry. The two aren’t just the much talked about celebs, but also have a love story that never got publically accepted or never retained its charm in the longer run.
Never did Big B accept anything said or written about their relationship while on the other side Rekha courageously admitted her love for Senior Bachchan. Silsila being their last film together, Amitabh chose Jaya (wife) over Rekha (alleged girlfriend) after which everything started to fade. Rekha never wanted to settle with the tag of “other woman” in Big B's life, but sooner she realized that there’s no future together. Even though the two separated their path, Rekha has always been seen wearing Sindoor and Mangal Sutra. Some say it's her style statement while others believe it to be worn for Amitabh Bachchan.

But whatever the circumstances had been, Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan’s sad love story gained attention every time a rumor struck. Each incident kept lingering on whereas Jaya and Big B are now a reality!
Every story comes with multiple complications but the one that passes with flying colors is one romantic saga that lives happily ever after.
