7 Celebrities Who Faced The New Age of Celebrity Stalkers

With the advent of the internet, it has become possible for celebrities to keep their fans posted on everything that they’re doing in their lives. Their fans can’t seem to get enough, and unfortunately neither can their stalkers.

Reports suggest that celebrities come only second to government officials in terms of being stalked which equal a massive 34% of all stalking cases. Starting from a man chasing James Blunt in his car, to a woman gatecrashing at Chris Brown’s house, celebrity stalking has become a common trend. And unfortunately, the internet and social media have played a huge role in this onslaught.

We bring to you 7 such instances of stalking where fans stalked their favorite celebrities and even crossed the line by a huge extent. Take a look:

 #1. Nicki Minaj 

The 31-year-old pop star had to face a wrath of inappropriate exchanges and vulgar abuses on Twitter after the release of her album Pink Friday. When all of this got a bit too much for her to take she quit Twitter. She said at the time, “a voice in my head told me to delete my Twitter and that’s what I did. Like seriously, it is but so much a person can take. Good f****** bye.”

#2. Jennifer Lawrence 

The Hunger Games star was never active on any social media platform to start with. However, in an interview, she stated, “I'll never get Twitter. If you ever see a Facebook or Instagram or Twitter that says it's me, it's not me.” Following the leak of her private pictures, when a stalker hacked into her phone, the actress said that the internet had scorned her too much.

#3. Kim Kardashian 

Dennis Shaun Bowman contacted Kim K constantly. He sent her numerous emails that contained many graphic images along with the love he had for the reality TV star. He even started showing up at all of her LA events. All this got a bit too intense for Kim and she filed a lawsuit against him and was finally granted a permanent restraining order that even forbid him from tweeting her.

#4. Rihanna 

The pop star is one of the most active celebs on social media. She keeps on posting a lot of her across social media platforms to keep her fans updated about her life. However, a certain fan got incited by Rihanna’s pictures and got too close to her after he threw a chair through her window, broke into her house and insisted he was her future husband. He also mentioned he’s been there before but that was the first time he’s been caught.

#5. Taylor Swift 

A stalker sent Taylor and her father tweets and emails for months that read: ‘Without her, I walk the earth alone forever and she'll continue to experience failed relationships that break her heart,’ and ’God is going to kill all the Swifts and then the issue will go away." He also included a photo of the singer with a caption that read, ‘A whore named Satan dies.’ Frank Andrew Hoover was arrested after trying to get to Taylor at her Formula One concert last year, telling her bodyguards: possibly accompany Taylor wherever she goes."

#6. Britney Spears 

Japanese Masahiko Shizawa who thought he was madly in love with Britters started sending her numerous emails, pictures of him and messages like “I’m chasing you.” She filed for a restraining order but he still traveled to the US to stalk her outside her homes. Weirdly, after a confrontation with her security guards, he tried to sue Britney for extreme emotional distress. Funnily enough, he didn’t win.

#7. Miley Cyrus 

Yes, she can be erratic and post awkward pictures on her social media handle, we fail to realize that it's her personal life and we really have nothing to do with it. However, several obsessed fans don’t quite seem to understand this fine line and a similar ultra-fan, Jason Luis Rivera, was stopped by police trying to break into Miley’s house with scissors. After he was taken into custody, he told the told police: “I am friends with Miley Cyrus….She’s my wife. Me and Miley have been friends for five years. “ He was sent to jail for 18 months for misdemeanor trespassing.
