World War II Plane Crashes Mere Metres Away From Spectators

There is so much that airplanes can do. Apart from just taking cargo and people from one place to the other, they can be used to perform some breathtaking stunts. Airshows are a similar place where many pilots gather to put up a show for the spectators as they perform mind-boggling tricks that almost defy gravity and death.

To witness such startling maneuvers, hundreds of people gathered at the Longuyon-Villette Airshow in Northern France. However, as fate turned out, they would witness much more than just crazy tricks and cool planes. Things took a dramatic turn as a World War 2 Spitfire crashed just meters way from the audience shortly after it took off.

In the video that was uploaded on the internet earlier, the vintage plane’s propeller can be seen plowing into the ground, thus creating a cloud of dirt. The plane also turned on its head upon hitting the ground. However, there were enough safety measures to ensure smooth handling of such incidents as many volunteers rushed in to rescue the pilot. They were even aided by several onlookers who joined to help later on. The good thing is that the pilot escaped safely from the crash, although he has sustained some minor injuries.

Take a look at the video:
