British Indian Novelist Salman Rushdie's Controversial Novel

The British Indian novelist, Salman Rushdie, who is known for his magic realist and historical fiction writings, turns 70 today. Rushdie is popular for his novel titled The Midnight's Children and has also won the prestigious Booker Prize for the same. 

The novelist has also been knighted by the Queen of England. Much of his works are set in the Indian subcontinent. His novel titled the Satanic Verses (1988) has been subject to a major controversial turmoil.

The author stated that he would have been an actor had his career not been successful. He even made a cameo in the movie Bridget Jone's Diary.
