America is reeling under the threat of terrorism with reports of shootings taking place on a frequent basis. However, this time, the Republican members of the Congress became victims of the wrath of a citizen who was upset with the US President Donald Trump.
On Wednesday morning, an angry man unleashed an open round of fire at the Republican members of Congress who were practicing for the Congressional Baseball Game at a park in Alexandria, Virginia, injuring House Majority Whip Steve Scalise and four others in a long gun-battle between the shooter and the police.

While recounting the horrific attack, the Congressmen applauded the Capitol Police officers for taking quick action and averting a major attack. It all began at 7 am in the morning when the shooter began to fire at the Republicans, taking aim through the chain-link fence. After hitting Scalise with a bullet to the hip, the shooter injured a lobbyist, an aide, and the Capitol Police officer before moving towards the dugout where the players and other people were hiding.
Lawmaker Steve Scalise is termed to be critical and the shooter, identified as James T Hodgkinson, was shot dead in an exchange of fire. It was later learned that the 66-year-old man, living in his van in Alexandria for a while now, was upset with the President and took to social media platform like Facebook to post anti-Trump rhetoric. To vent out his aggression, he even posted letters to the local newspaper blaming the government of favoring the wealthy.
