Vin Diesel is undeniably among the biggest action star Hollywood has ever seen, if not the biggest. Whether you talk about his Fast and Furious movie franchise or the two XXX movies that got the adrenaline pumping through our veins with their action sequences, the star has never failed to amaze us with his on-screen presence and bizarre stunts.
However, the star is more than just an actor and has stepped into several off-screen roles from time to time when the need be. As the star celebrates his 50th birthday, we would like to talk about some of his roles, when he impressed with his behind the camera skills.
#1. Vin Diesel – The Producer
Whenever the actor stars in a movie, he gives it his everything. The star does not even shy away from investing his own money into his films. Apart from producing several films of the Fast and Furious franchise, he has also credited as the producer of the three XXX movies, A Man Apart and The Last Witch Hunter.
For his ambitious 2013-project, Riddick, the actor went all out producing it, even leveraging his house for the success of the movie. The actor admitted in an interview that he would be homeless if the film wasn’t finished or didn’t do well at the box office. Fortunately, this USD 38 million-budget movie grossed almost USD 100 million.

#2. Vin Diesel – The Writer and Director
When Vin couldn’t persuade Hollywood filmmakers to cast him in their movies, the actor decided to write, direct, produce, star and create the score for his movie, Multi-Facial.
Made with a budget of USD 3,000, Multi-Facial was a somewhat of a success and was screened at Cannes Film Festival in 1994. The film captured the attention of the legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, who then cast him in his Academy Award-winning movie, Saving Private Ryan. The actor has also written, directed and produced two other films; Strays (1997) and Los Bandoleros (2009).
#3. Voice Roles
Vin Diesel’s signature voice has also helped him land several roles in movies. The most popular of these is the 2014-blockbuser Guardians of the Galaxy and its even more profitable 2017-sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, where he voices Groot, a tree-like creature from Planet X. The actor is also set to reprise the role in Avengers: Infinity War, which is set for an April 2018 release.
Apart from these, Vin Diesel has also rendered his voice to characters in The Iron Giant (1999), The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury (2004) and Riddick: Blindsided (2013). He also lend his voice to characters in games like The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay, Wheelman and The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena.
The Pitch Black-star has indeed come a long way from an uncredited appearance in Awakenings (1990) to being one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood. As the hero enters into a new phase of life this 18th July, we wish him an incredible birthday and a great life ahead.
