A woman’s body is in constant turmoil. Beginning with the menstrual cycle, progressing to pregnancy and menopause, the body undergoes serious hormonal changes. As a result, a woman’s body needs extra care.

A busy family woman often turns a blind eye to her health and it is her last priority. Our sedentary lifestyle only adds to the agony. But once the body takes a beating, women regret the neglect.

To have a healthy body and mind, one needs dedication. It is all about setting your priorities right.


1. Watch what goes into your body

Nutrition experts insist on adding color to your plate. The more the color, the more your body will thank you for it. Increase your intake of vegetables and fruits.

When it comes to food, stick to the unprocessed variety. Avoid anything that goes into the machine and anything that is refined.

Switch over to cold pressed oil and include red and brown rice. Try using rock salt and cut the sugar. Use jaggery or palm candy instead.

Your grandmother is the best nutritionist. Stick to the diet your ancestors followed and keep disorders at bay.

Never skip breakfast. As experts say, eat your breakfast like a king and your dinner like a pauper.


2. Maintain your circadian rhythm

Your body functions according to an inbuilt clock, called the circadian clock. Listen to your body and hit the sack on time. Hit bed early and rise early. Sleep recoups your body like a miracle drug.

A good night’s sleep not only improves your memory and concentration, but it also helps you manage stress better. Sleep eradicates lethargy and sluggishness.

Stick to a sleep routine and maintain it regularly even during holidays.


3. Get Active

The human body is designed for movement and physical activity. The more the activity, the healthier you are. When you look at the farming communities anywhere in the world, you will notice that lifestyle disorders do not affect them much.

So, be determined and stick to a workout routine. Change the routine as often as you want. But, make sure your body gets its daily dose of physical activity.

A good dose of exercise does not just help you stay fit, but it also improves your mood.


4. Watch your waistline

Belly fat in women is linked to cardio disorders. An increasing waistline can lead to cardio diseases. The reason for an expanding waistline can be hormonal disorders.

Whatever may be the cause, get to the root of it and eliminate your belly fat. You will save your body from lifestyle disorders by doing so. Cardio exercises and abs workout work best for belly fat.


5. Delight your mind

Just like your body, your mind requires a de-stressor. Meditation offers the required refreshment. It will be difficult initially, but your mind will thank you for it, in the course of time.

Join a class or read books and start with few minutes in a day. Age is no bar. All you need is the ability to control your thoughts.

Take deep breaths as often as you can. It clears your air passage and improves circulation.


6. Soak up the sun

When we are confined indoors, our body loses its ability to synthesize Vitamin D that is an essential nutrient. This vitamin strengthens our bones and aids our body in the cancer fight.

Expose your body to some sunlight, at least for a few minutes in a week. Early morning is the best time to do so.


7. Unwind periodically

Every woman has that one thing that she is passionate about. It could be reading or dancing or any kind of sports. It could also be a creative activity like painting or embroidery.

Make time for it. Cut the television hours and instead, do something you enjoy. Indulging in your favorite activity can help you stay away nonessential thoughts.

Constructive thoughts lead to positive energy which in turn results in sound health.

Healthy choices and a smart a smart lifestyle can make you feel good at any age.
