What is a panic attack?

People often experience abnormal behavioral changes and the physical symptoms when they go through a stressful situation of anxiety and depression. They feel a sudden rush of fear that is accompanied with certain physical feelings (tightness of the chest, excessive sweating, tingling, light-headedness or heart beating faster than usual). When a person undergoes panic attack, he may feel the fear of dying.

One can easily characterize panic attack by the intense fear that may be visible from physical symptoms of trembling and shaking, chest pains, hot flashes or chills, upset stomach and difficulty breathing.

Important facts about panic attacks -

•    One can experience a panic attack at any point of time and it can be caused due to sudden fear, severe stress, negative feelings, or chronic medical diseases.
•    Some of the noticeable symptoms of pack attack are stomach pain, fear of dying, sweating, heart palpitations, shortness of breath and numbness or tingling.
•    Patients suffering from mental disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), agoraphobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and bipolar disorder are at a higher risk of experiencing panic attacks.
•    Medical conditions like sleep disorder, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) also triggers panic attacks.

Intake of well-balanced diet and practicing healthy exercises reduces the feelings of anxiety-related tension and stress.
