To be hurt by someone, especially close friends and family members is never a good feeling. You get hurt because you never expected them to behave in a certain manner or maybe because their behavior towards you has changed. They treat you with cold and rude comments and do not care about your feelings anymore. A person can get hurt because of various reasons. It also varies depending on the degree of tolerance of a particular person.
However, if a person hurts you repeatedly, then you need to become immune, find a closure and try to move on from it. What has happened can never be changed. However, your reactions to the situation can certainly change your present and future for good. Let us look into some productive habits that you can practice in order to tackle the situations when someone hurts you.
#1. Settle Down Your Emotions
The moment you are getting hurt, it is essential to settle down your own emotions and feelings. An emotional state can lead to frustration and depression which stops you from looking at things objectively. Therefore, in order to get a clear view of what has happened and how exactly you feel, you need to settle yourself down, consider your emotions and analyze them objectively.

#2. Recognize The Intention
In order to get a clear way to know what happened, listen to your heart properly. Try to decide was it intentional or it just happened because the situation demanded. Your gut feeling and reactions are usually the best indications you can get at that time. Choose first to understand the intention of the person hurting you and then react accordingly.
#3. Reconsider The Situation
Try to know both the sides of the coin. First, you can, of course, carry your own point of view. However, it is also equally important to know what the other person is feeling. You probably are also in the wrong position, sometimes. Therefore, just don't have the urge to be right all the time. If you feel that you also did something that may be wrong, accept that.
#4. Defend Your Position And Stick To Your Words
The things you analyze in the phase of introspection are your true feelings. Therefore, if you wish to confront the person who did wrong to you, stick to your point of view about the situation. Don’t add the things that your friends or anyone else may feel. When you stick to what you feel you are also permitting the other person to say what they feel as well.

#5. Recognize And Apologize, If You Are Wrong
As they say, “one hand can never make a clap”. You might be on the wrong side sometimes. There can be something that you must have done that contributed to the current situation. If you think you have also contributed to making yourself hurt, try to balance the zone by accepting your mistakes and make peace with it.
#6. Don’t React To The Situation
Take the opportunity to wait and evaluate the situation. Give yourself enough time to think and decide what is best for yourself. If they are still doing things that are hurting you, just respond but never react. If you will react in the same manner, you will end up getting hurt and they will also know that the things they are doing are still affecting you.
#7. Avoid Attacking And Adopt The Attitude Of Building A Bridge
A habit that they adopted of hurting you should not be your approach to the situation. Try to build a bridge between what happens and your present life. After connecting those things, cross the bridge without making yourself hurt anymore. Practise an attitude of acceptance and love. It will act in your favor. You will soon realize that it was for your good.

#8. Establish Some Personal Limits
This is an important point in order to re-establish your esteem and power again. In order to reclaim your confidence again, set some of the limits that you need to create in your life. You need to define the things that you don’t want to happen to you again. If you will establish and insist on your personal limits, they will be respected.
#9. Don’t Let Your Happiness Get Affected Because Of What Happened
Remember, that you could not stop it. If you could have, you would have. You are the one who got hurt, therefore, change your attitude and response to such situations. However, never let it come in the way of your happiness. The things that make you happy should still be a part of your life. Rearrest yourself to be happy again. Determine individual happiness of yourself.

#10. Respect Yourself And Develop Self-Love
If something bad happens to you, probably because of some of your mistakes as well, that should never be a barrier for you to lose the respect that you have for yourself. Don’t respond to negativity around you. Your happiness is within you and incidents like these should never let yourself feel ill about you. Understand that you are absolutely perfect the way you are.
#11. Forgive and Let Go
Letting go does not mean that you will treat yourself as a doormat. However, forgiving people helps you to move on easily. You need a closure in order to move on from a situation. Therefore, if you have negativity in your heart, interchange it with compassion.
