Why do women tolerate extra marital affairs of their husbands?

Infidelity is devastating as well as emotionally toll taking. It has a long list of negative emotions attached which has no escape route.

Even though it is frowned upon so much by our society, yet it remains a twisted word, which has a grey shade to it. Addressing it as grey, may put some readers into awe. But, they must ponder over the point that if it is such a shameful situation then why many spouses, especially women choose to stick to such partners. Definitely a food for thought.

Being no judge to the situation, rather just an observer with some perceptions, which may or may not be approved by readers. These perceptions describe why female spouses choose to stay with their husbands even after facing betrayal.

Ray of Hope: Some females tend to be hopelessly optimistic and blind towards their spouse. So, they chose to wait for the moment when their partner shall be only theirs and infidelity would become a bitter flavor of past.

Sigh of Relief: When talking about female tendency, they hate to be lied to. Being lied to, is emotionally wrecking as well as mentally shattering for females. So, they tend to do crazy stuff acting like sniffer dogs and private investigators, which would not happen if the truth was not in front of them. Once they know all, most women put in all they have to get back their husband.

Blamed upon: The patriarchal society lingers on the blame being shot on the females, so happens in the case of infidelity. The husbands blame their wives or their marriage circumstances as a precursor to infidelity, and females being emotionally vulnerable, take upon the blame and chose to tag along with such a spouse.

Social Honor: Our society thrives around the thinking that female existence is meaningless without a male, so she should compromise and stay, so that the society does not frown upon on her.

Children: When kids are involved, some women chose to suffer in silent humiliation, in order to let their children have a better childhood which is not frowned upon by the society.

Financial Status: Some women do not take the drastic step of separation from their philandering spouse, owing to her and her children’s financial dependency on the husband.

There can be many more reasons to it, other than those mentioned above. As said before, above reasons are just perceptions and they can vary depending on the observer.
