Are you an early riser or a night owl? Do you prefer to wake up early in the morning and complete majority of the tasks before the onset of midday? Or do you wish to remain awake late at night and sleep happily till mid morning? The preference or the choice on this aspect plays a significant role in determining the chronotype of the individual.
Some clearly are night owls, while some others are larks. Also, there are many, who are midway between these two. The rising tendency largely depends on various factors.
These include lifestyle variations, genetic changes, and certain biological factors. And, this often leads to mood swings, health risks, depression and, fatigue, sleep disorders, difficulty with focus, discomfort, physical pain in various body parts and a lot of abnormalities. It's true that we have a degree of preference for rising early or staying late at night. But, we must be aware and ready as well for the consequences.
Research shows that though night owls tend to have more risk of depression, fatigue, and other bodily discomfort, they are more productive than the early risers and have more stamina. It is just the neurological differences, which create all the necessary changes in the sleeping patterns.
