With INS Viraat to bow out of service, Indian Navy is likely to fasten the process of acquiring the next warship which is being constructed in Cochin.
World’s longest-serving warship INS Viraat has spent 30 years in Indian Navy. Prior to being inducted in Indian Navy, it had served 27 years in Royal Navy of UK. Interestingly, the aircraft carrier which is likely to replace INS Viraat has been named Vikrant.
The world’s longest-serving warship INS Viraat is likely to be converted into a maritime museum. The Andhra Pradesh government has also mooted out a plan to convert INS Viraat into a luxury hotel cum museum.

Indian Navy is also looking forward to acquiring multi-role helicopters which will have combat and evacuation capabilities. The new aircraft carrier will have facilities to hold these choppers too. INS Viraat has been a part of many important naval operations and has been a proud possession of the Navy.
With it being converted into a possible museum, it will inspire the coming generations to be a part of Indian Navy and serve the nation as proudly as INS Viraat has been doing over the years.
