Diabetes is a medical condition that is caused due to an unwanted accumulation of sugar in the body. Due to the scarcity of specific hormone called Insulin (produced by the pancreas), the body loses its ability to absorb sugar. A proper diet and healthy exercise regime can improve the well-being of the diabetic patients. The approximate calorie intake for a diabetic patient should lie between 1500-1800 calories/day. To compensate the fiber content of the body, the person needs to consume plentiful amounts of whole grains like pasta or brown rice. Additionally, it is beneficial to include fresh vegetables or sprouts in the daily diet. Some of the diabetic friendly foods to include in the daily diet of a diabetic patient are a bitter gourd, flax seeds, fenugreek seeds, green tea, cinnamon, berries, and lots of water.

•    Raisins
•    Milk
•    Slices of cooked bacon
•    Sliced onions
•    Vinegar

•    You can make this sumptuous salad by incorporating all the veggies in a large mixing bowl.
•    Add the cooked bacon slices to the tossed vegetables and garnish it with vinegar.

Fresh Berries with Maple Cream- As a diabetic patient if you are craving for a mouth-licking dessert, you can easily prepare this low-calorie dish and get your intake of antioxidants.

Ingredients Needed:

•    1 cup fresh blueberries
•    1 cup fresh raspberries
•    1 tbsp. fat-free sour cream
•    Maple syrup

Recipe:

•    Combine the maple syrup and sour cream in a small bowl and mix them well.
•    Mix the fresh berries in a large bowl and then pour the cream mixture into it.
•    You can also garnish your dessert with mint leaves.

Oats Soup- Oats soup is one of the best ways to add fibers to your diet. The recipe serves as a satisfying appetizer and people of all ages can intake the soup.

Ingredients Needed: 

•    1 cup Oats
•    Finely chopped onions
•    Green chillies
•    Salt
•    1 cup Water
•    Pepper powder
•    1 cup Milk
•    1 cup Oil

Recipe:

•    In a heated pan sauté the veggies and add the oats into it.
•    Add salt to taste and then pour the said quantity of water and allow it to boil.
•    Lastly, ass the milk and pepper powder and serve it hot.
