Most of the people today have the problem of not being able to sleep. This condition is also referred to as insomnia or sleeplessness. Psychologists say that the main reason behind this issue is that people are not able to relax and calm down during the bed time. Although, the stress and tension make us very annoyed and anxious and leaves us in a worried state. 

If your schedule has been disturbed since a long time, then your anxious nature keeps building up. This causes the problem to persist, and you don’t sleep long enough!

#1. Try Reverse Psychology

When you can’t sleep, try to remain awake. Reverse psychology works when you do something opposite of what you actually want.

#2. Do Not Do Anything But Sleep In Your Bed

If you do any other activity in your bed say, watch TV or play a video game, etc. Then your body will perceive as the place of indulging in activities. So use your bed to sleep only.

If you keep looking at your watch all the time, then, you will become more and more anxious about your problem. So hide your clock right away!

The secret to sleep is the perfect room temperature. Hence, make sure that the room temperature relaxes you and helps to drift you to sleep.

Take a warm shower at least one hour before going to bed. When you come out from the warm shower and step in your cool room, your body temperature sinks.

According to a Swiss study, by wearing socks, you make the body heat drift on the extremes thereby, making your body cool and sleepy.

#7. Reset Your System

Immerse your face in the icy cold water completely. By doing this, your blood pressure and heart rate decreases and the production of a sleep-inducing hormone, melatonin will enhance.

The smell of lavender is proven to relax us and lower our blood pressure. Research says that its amazing aroma makes us fall asleep faster.

When you listen to music (slow beats and rhythm), you tend to increase your chances of falling asleep quickly and decreases the chances of depression.

#11. Avoid The Blue Lights

The sources of blue lights are many like T.V, smartphones, Bulbs, LED Lights etc. You need to cut them off in bed, thereby setting an appropriate atmosphere for a deep snooze.

Blowing bubbles is such a fun-filled activity involving deep breaths that help in two ways. First, by distracting us from all the life’s worries and second, calm our brain and body.

#13. Do Not Take Intoxicating Drinks Just Before Sleep

National Institute For Health found out that if you have the habit of taking intoxicating drinks just before you go to sleep, it will lower the level of sleep hormone in your brain.
