Its summer time and everyone is looking for ways to escape the scorching heat. If you thought staying confined in your room with your air-conditioning turned on is the only way to beat the heat, think again. Instead of shutting in the avid traveler inside of you, let them out and get set to explore some truly amazing destinations. From the mountainous ranges of the Himalayas to the cool blue seas of Andaman and Nicobar, the terrains of this beautiful country provides you with a lot of places to escape the unbearable heat of the city. The hill stations up north have been done to death so why not explore some of the cooler places down south. In case you are looking for options, we have a few narrowed down for you: 

1) Lambasingi, Andhra Pradesh: Lambasingi is a hidden gem situated in Andhra Pradesh that makes for a beautiful summer destination. It is nearly at an altitude of 2600 feet above sea level. It is considered to be one of the coolest places in South India and though once quite an obsolete name for tourists; it is now a popular destination for many during summers.

2) Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu: The scenic beauty of this tiny city in Tamil Nadu is unparallel and one can easily lose themselves in its cascading waterfalls and beautiful rivers snaking their way through lush greenery. Kodaikanal is definitely worth a visit and there are chances you would keep coming back.

3) Nandi Hills, Karnataka: This range of hills derives its name from its shape which is that of a sleeping bull and hence the name Nandi. It's mesmerizing scenic location makes it an appealing place for many who wish to soak themselves in nature and its soothing beauty. A bird’s eye view of the place is stunning with a range of green hills with clouds hovering just above them. This place was also the summer capital of the famous Tipu Sultan and has his fort built over Nandi hill.

4) Devikulam, Kerala: This quaint little hill station is situated just about 5 kilometers from Munnar in Kerala and boasts of amazing flora and fauna. One of the most well-known place here which is also of great spiritual and religious importance is the Sita Devi Lake. This beautiful lake is named after a famous figure of the mythology Ramayan because according to legends, Devi Sita bathed in this lake and hence it is considered sacred.

5) Coorg, Karnataka: If you are looking for splendid hill stations with a beautiful climate than Coorg is the place for you. One can enjoy the view of imposing mountains, lush greenery and cascading waterfalls in this scenic landscape. Abbey Falls is one major attraction of this place where white foamy waterfalls down to flow as a small river. The view is simply breathtaking and the misty spray of water is deeply soothing. If you’re an ardent nature lover then this is the destination you should be heading towards.

6) Munnar, Kerala: This place is not called the Swiss of South India for no reason; it is the most popular hill resort of the south and has the highest peak, Anamudi which is over 2695 meters high. This place is also the ideal vacation spot for trekking enthusiasts and has all the facilities available in case ones wishes to climb Anamudi on foot. Seeing its scenic beauty and imposing mountains, it comes as no surprise that this place was the summer resort of British Governors.

7) Gandikota, Andhra Pradesh: In case you always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon but it was out of your budget, then there is great news for you. A quaint and beautiful village located on the banks of river Pennar in Andhra Pradesh is also famously known as the Grand Canyon of India. This place is strictly for those who are up for a little adventure and wish to spend time in the lap of nature amid rocky terrains. There is no source of transport inside the area and you will have to explore on foot.
