“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
Love and Hate are described as feelings which are opposites in nature. Love shows affection whereas hate shows aversion. However, “apathy” which means lack of emotions or indifference can also be considered as an opposite of both love and hate.
Apparently, everything exists in conjunction with it’s opposite to maintain a balance in the universe. If this is the case, then love cannot exist without hate as they are interrelated and are meaningless separately.
Often, people find themselves in situations where they hate the person they love. Initially, this might appear to be a contradiction, for how one can love and hate the same person at the same time?
In this kind of attitude, the profound positive and negative evaluations are directed at different aspects of the person. We have all heard of love-hate relationships. Perhaps they are more common than we care to think they are.
Further, Love and hate often seemingly irrational can lead an individual to heroic and evil deeds. How can two opposite emotion result in the same behavior? For biologists, hate is a passion that is of equal interest to love even though it is often considered to be an evil passion that should be tamed, controlled and eradicated in a better world.
Also according to a study, love and hate exist from same energy. They are intimately linked within the brain. Scientists have found that some of the nervous circuits in the brain responsible for the physical nature of hate have been found to be the same as those that are used during the feeling of romantic love.
Ultimately, there might just be a thin dividing line between love and hate.
