How many times have people told you that work is not supposed to be fun and that it is only a means to an end? Get that paycheck at the end of the month and pay the bills? Well, forget that. We say if work isn’t fun, then what is the point in spending half of your life doing it? Your work should be something that you enjoy, and at least, it should be something that does not make you feel miserable at the end of the day.
As amazing as it may sound, doing what you love may not always be an option for you, but having fun at work is always in your hands. When you have fun working, it ceases to be a burden for you; it becomes a source of joy like reading a book, river rafting, climbing a boat, or whatever floats your boat.
It may not sound too convincing to you right now, but having fun at work is a lot easier than you might conceive it to be. Are you done with feeling bored at work all the time? Do you want to start enjoying your life now by having fun at work? Here are some simple tips that will help you have fun at work that you never thought was possible.
#1. Start Having Lunch With Your Colleagues
We probably shouldn’t have mentioned it here, but sadly, every office has a few of those barely get off their seat even to have their meal. Are you one of those? Well, stop it. Even if you find it difficult to interact with people, keep on trying till you get it right. This small step can make your work life less miserable than it is right now.

#2. Decorate Your Workstation
It is the time that you should give up on your dull and boring workstation that induces sleep all the time and make way for a cool cubicle that motivates you to work better every time you look at it. You will be surprised by how one simple change at the place where you work can boost your morale to the highest levels. So you may say that this stone hits two birds for you. First, you get to have fun while decorating your workstation the way you want it, and the second is that it improves your productivity.
#3. Bring A Hobby To Work
If you can’t enjoy your work, then bring what you enjoy to work, as simple as that. Each one of us has hobbies, something that we love to indulge in during our free time. If you don’t have one, then we suggest you pick up one as a hobby can not only improve your problem-solving abilities but also helps reduce work-related stress. The only thing we would say is you shouldn’t forget about your work once you brink your hobby of working.

There are some other ways to reduce the stress that will come in handy when you are going through that dreaded phase of constant failures.
#4. Celebrate Small Accomplishments
Don’t you think that landing a new client or finishing your project before the deadline calls for a celebration? Ordering a pizza or taking your colleagues out for lunch if you feel that the occasion calls for it. Moreover, your accomplishments do not have to be anything huge by conventional standards. If there is anything that has made you feel good, it is good enough for a pizza party.
#5. Have Group Breaks
How long have you been going for a smoke break or a walk alone in this office? Your answer is wrong. The correct answer is ‘too long.' Start now to take one or two of your colleagues with you on breaks. If it helps, indulge in some office gossip to feel a part of the group. Going for a short, 10-15 minutes break with your colleagues can be wondrous for your productivity as well. If you are looking for some real refreshment during working hours, this perhaps is it.

#6. Bring Out The Artist In You
Art is one of the most therapeutic things you will ever find in this world. You can listen to music on breaks oy if manageable, you can also listen to music while working. We do not mean for you to envelop your entire office in paint, but just pick a wall and turn it into an art project. In addition to that, you do not have to stick to the old idea of bringing out the paint and the brush. You can do anything you want on this wall. Create something unique that revolves around the people who work here.
#7. Set Up A Game Room
If you are a guy, then we are sure you were waiting for something like this, and if you are a lady, then we apologize if we have offended you by stereotyping. If you have a break room at work that you almost have forgotten about, then revive it by bringing in a table tennis or foosball table. You can also include games like chess and other board games to play when you are bored.

#8. Play Music
For the most of us, plugging earphones in is the quickest retreat when we are bored at work. You need to think one step above that. Why not share with all of your colleagues the kind of music that you love? You are probably going to have to talk to a senior about this, but you can set up speakers to play light music in the background as you go about completing your daily targets. Though it may not make a huge difference, it is still an effective step in lightening things up a little bit.
#9. Celebrate Occasions
From birthdays and anniversaries to birth of a child, happy occasions call for a celebration. And just a cake and a gift are not going to do the trick for you. Think something big like going out for a meal or bringing booze to work, after work hours of course and only if the boss allows. What better way to have fun at work than this.
#10. Ask The HR To Organize Fun Activities
To all the HRs out there, you are not doing your job if employees at your company are not having fun at work. It is time you take some time out to think about employee engagement and organize something for your colleagues to have some fun. Once or twice in a month, you can organize group activities. This will not only reduce the stress on employees but also help them to get to know each other better; hence, improving the way they work.

#11. Have A Talent Show
It often happens that we barely know someone personally who we have been working for the past several years. Somebody could be a great singer, while somebody else could know some great moves. And there is an office clown who cracks up everybody every time he opens his mouth. Why not give these people a stage to show off? So, a talent show, again, can be a great group activity to strengthen the bonds between colleagues.
#12. Ignite An Office Romance
We were a little hesitant about mentioning it here, but then we thought that if you haven’t found any of the points mentioned above working for you, then you need this. An office romance can bring just the right amount of crazy and fun that you have been looking for in your life. However, we do need to mention that if you do not handle these carefully, these can turn ugly in no time.

We might be looking in the wrong direction or too far ahead in future but here are some tips on dealing with an office breakup.
