How to Let Go of People?

The relationships that we have in our life often form the basis of the kind of happiness we experience in our life. These add value to our life and make sure we have people who are there to share the good and the ugly that takes place in our life. Human beings are designed in such a way that they find it impossible to live their lives completely in isolation from all the others. It is impossible for them to not interact with the other people surrounding them. Depending on their innate nature they tend to be an introvert, wherein they prefer to interact with a selected few and find it difficult to get comfortable around a new set of people easily. Or there could be extroverts, people who find it easy to interact with other and get along with a new set of people without making a massive effort.

In any case, the association with people and the need to have emotional connections is always very essential for all human beings. What is even more important to keep in mind is the idea that once a strong emotional connection is established between two individuals, it is absolutely impossible for us to let go of them and vice versa. Fact remains that we find it difficult to do without the emotional gratification that we receive from these individuals for a period of time. Probably that's why it seems impossible to fill the void that is created when it becomes necessary to part ways for whatever reason.

This ‘void’ is the reason why it becomes impossible for us to let go of any individual even when it is the best option for our greater good. Most of us find it to be a hell of a task when we have to take a strong step and let go of people who are close to our heart but are proving to be toxic in some or the other way in our life. It is so because emotional attachment is very hard to get over, sometimes it takes a long period of time to make peace with the loss of an emotionally strong companionship. What is very crucial to understand is the idea that we all will need to let those people go who are not making a contribution to the positive in our lives and who are hindering our positive growth.

If you have wanted to gracefully let go of all those people in your life who are not contributing to your positive progress, here are a few ways in which you can make sure you do and not be emotionally drained:

How To Let Go Of People?

#1. Clarify Things To Yourself

If you feel the need to let go of someone, it must be so because of something that was not working out fine between the two of you. There is some specific reason, and that has made it necessary for you to let this person go. It will make the process much easier if you are able to make it clear to yourself in your mind, why it is so very important for you to let this person go away. Sometimes our mind is making a constant effort to rationalize things; it is at this point of time that you will need to make sure that you keep reminding yourself the exact reason why it is not healthy for you to continue this relationship.

Making things clear to yourself and analyzing things in your mind can prove to be a great help in keeping your mind on the right track and not letting your emotions take charge. When we are faced with the challenge of emotions flooding our mind and making it impossible for us to take a decision which is very crucial for our life, a clear and focused mind can always save the situation. This makes it very important for us keep things clear in our own mind. When we have a mind that is filled with massive confusion, we surely fail to take decisions that are crucial but hard to make.

#2. Do Not Relive The Happy Memories In The Mind

Once you have been able to make it clear in your mind the fact that you will have to let go of this person, it will be a very good idea not to relive those happy memories that make you feel the dearth of that person in your life. Reliving old memories that were happy can prove to be a major roadblock when it comes to successfully letting go of someone close to you.

It is obvious that all the things that you did will come to your mind even if you try really hard to keep them out of your mind. But, you will have to make a conscious effort to make sure that you do all that is possible for you to do to keep these thoughts out of your mind.

#3. Keep Your Mind Occupied With Something Else.

Make sure that you keep your mind occupied with things that are important for you to do. It may be work, it may be the hobbies that you love to do, it may be all those things that you have been planning for the longest time, but life just comes in the way. This is the time to make sure you do all of those things and give your mind the opportunity to be occupied with things that will make you happy.

When we let the mind be occupied with all such things and do not allow negative thoughts enter, we make sure we are able to move ahead much faster. It is our responsibility to take charge of the situation and make sure we think positive thoughts and indulge into self-care, which will make it possible for us to do the right thing without a falling emotionally week.

#4. Surround Yourself With More Positive People

When we are left all alone, it is absolutely impossible for us to keep our mind occupied with things that will only make us happy. Moreover, the lack of people around will make it impossible for you not to notice the void created by the absence of that person. When you have people around you, you will not have the time to feel the void created in your life. More the people more you will be able to make sure your mind is completely occupied and there is absolutely no chance that you are going to keep thinking of this individual who is no more in your life.

Positive people have the ability to mold the way you are thinking and they make sure, no matter how unhappy or disturbed you are, you are able to continue functioning without becoming completely emotionally negative.

#5. Accept That It Was Necessary

Acceptance is very important for life to move on. No matter why the person is no more in your life, it is not going to be possible for you to move on if you refuse to accept the fact that they have left or you had to let them go. When we make peace with the way things are and choose not to resist what is necessary, we work in our own favor.

Acceptance makes things way easier that we can think of because we are allowing all those things to take place without resistances, which are crucial for a good life. We all are aware of the fact that we will need to make peace with what was the best, and that the person is no more a part of our life. Is it not amazing that we are not letting anyone who makes our life negative, take charge of how our life should be? It is better to make sure you have the ability to accept those things that cannot be avoided and are for your greater good.

#6. Make Sure You Have A Positive Attitude

It is important to have a positive attitude towards what has taken place in your life. There can be two possible ways of seeing it, you can look at it as a loss or you can choose to look at it as something that had to happen for your life to proceed positively. It is completely up to you to decide what perspective you wish to choose in life, do you wish to look at things positively and be grateful for all the good that it made possible in your life or will you keep focusing on the negative and drain yourself emotionally?

Choosing to see the good in any situation is the best way to make sure you are not letting the negative prevail in your life, it is the best way to let go of people and make yourself feel worse about it.

We do not realize the fact that people come into our life and with time they go out of our life.
Those that have to remain in it remain as close companion at all times. The ones that have to go
away will go away no matter what. There are times things are not really in our hands and there
are times when we all are not able to accept the fact that someone is not there as a part of our
life.
What I have learned from my journey is the idea that when a person goes away from our life or
when we need to let go of someone and move on in our life. It is mostly for the greater good of
both the people involved. The problem that we tend to encounter is it is not possible for us to
let go of those people who are an integral part of our life. What we need to understand is the
idea that you will always be able to get over the lack of someone who is important in our life.
But, we will never be able deal with the toxic that the presence of such people will infuse in our
life.
Initially the void that is created because of the lack of this person makes it difficult to deal with
the whole situation. It becomes impossible for us to not think about the things that we did with
them and the kind of role they played in our life. The void is the reason why we find it hard to
move on and to accept the fact that it is better if they are gone. Emotional attachment can be
one such thing that can make it impossible for us to make decisions that are crucial for us and is
for our greater good. But, we all need to keep in mind that if someone is not making us feel
good and is not letting us live peacefully, then it is best to let them go and to not cling to the
companionship that they are providing to us.
This is just temporary, because anything that is permanent cannot be negative and it is not
possible for us to stick to any relationship or be with someone for the longest time, which is not
positive for our life. What is important to understand is we are not wishing to have just any
person in our life; we are looking at the idea of having someone who will contribute positively
to our life. Irrespective of them being our friend, a family member or even our partner, it is
crucial for them to be willing to be positive for our growth in life.
The moment they prove to be negative in our life, it is important to let go of them and make
sure we do not fall weak while doing so. We have to take such decisions for a better future and
we have to keep the positive aspect of this in our mind.
